3.0 out of 5 stars Nintendo DS Slim Magnifier and Slide Grip Kit
This magnifier enlarges onscreen applications very well. There's only one drawback--it doesn't snugly fit my Nintendo DS Lite. I have to just lay the Nintendo on top of the kit and hold the kit to ensure it doesn't slip off.

This review is from: Nintendo DS Slim Magnifier and Slide Grip Kit (Video Game)
I recently purchased a Nintendo DS, and while it's a lot of fun, my adult hands become stiff and sore fairly quickly from holding the DS and bending my double-jointed thumbs into some sort of unsightly angle. I saw this at Best Buy and bought it on a whim. This kit extends the sides and bottom of the DS, making it similar to a Playstation controller. It sticks out just enough to make the DS much more comfortable to hold.

I do like the screen magnifier layout, although I don't intend on using it often as more than a cover for the lid of the DS. it folds nicely and adds an extra layer of protection. The magnifier itself only applies to the upper screen, making it great for games like MarioKart, but it isn't as useful with games that primarily use the touch screen or have two-part game action. With these the top screen appears much larger than the bottom, making the action a bit disorienting (Metroid Pinball, for one).

The magnetic stylus, which I thought would be pointless, is actually incredibly handy. It can be stored in the normal stylus slot, but when in use the bottom grip has a little extended holster that magnetically holds the stylus upright. It's great for games where you don't always use the stylus but occasionally need it quickly.

Overall, I would say that this kit is a great addition to an adult's DS experience, and greatly increased my gaming enjoyment.

I love my Nintendo DS, but at 60, I am having trouble viewing the games.
This is a great addition. And I can use it for the bottom screen.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Nintendo Magnifier kit is great!, January 16, 2012

Even though this kit was not made for the Nintendo Lite, it works well if you use
double stick foam tape to keep the magnifier on the lid of the game unit.
The gripper can be used in the same way, if you want to keep the magnifier and
and the gripper on the unit semi permanently.

You can't use regular double sided scotch type tape. It's not thick enough to make
allowances for the surface variance on the Magnifier attachment area. I tried both
and the semi-permanent double sided foam tape works best and really seems to hold.
I don't know how easy it would be to remove, so try it at your own risk.

THe magnification really does help for those that need glasses for reading. I don't know
what the magnification ratio is, but there is a substantial difference in viewing with the
Magnifier and without it.

If you've been putting off getting a Nintendo because of vision this might just put the fun
back in personal/portable gaming.

I bought this for a Christmas Gift and the person that I bought for it tells me it makes
the Nintendo Lite a useable game tool, again. After all, Nintendos aren't just for kids anymore!
