When my son traded his DS in for a DSi, I found out that the DS car charger does not work with the DSi. There is a kit you can buy that allows for charging both in a car or a USB port but it cost more and all we needed was car charging.
We use it for long car rides or if we forget to charge his DSi, have to run out somewhere and he wants to play.
So far it has worked perfectly. What more can you say? It fits, it works and it charges.
Time will tell if it lasts.

UPDATE July 2010: The adapter is still working well!
UPDATE July 2011: The adapter finally gave out since the wire connection had been pulled on regularly. I have bought another one and wanted to point out that this works for a 3DS as well.

There isn't a lot to say about a utilitarian product like this one. You plug it in the 12v jack in your car(I have two)on one end, and plug it into the DSi on the other. There is a green led on the device indicating it is working, and the normal orange charge light on the DSi. I'm not sure, but I think it charges a little quicker on the adapter than from the original AC charger.

My son bought this shortly after he bought his DSi and discovered that his DS charger was not compatible. That was months ago and it still works great despite the beating it receives in our car. It's not perfect, sometimes I have it does not make a good connection and I have to turn it a little, but once I adjust it, it works great. Glad he bought this, makes long car rides much easier.

Bought this item for my game (Dsi), in case I have to do emergency charging lol. This is an authentic Nintendo charger for Dsi and Dsi XL. Its really durable and nice!!

There is no doubt about the success of the Nintendo DSi, and its recent success in Nintendo's video game system arsenal. Yet with all of the portable gaming on the go, or all the snapshots your can take with the DSi's digital camera feature, you do need a place to charge it on the go. This DSi Car Adapter works very well, and can charge your Nintendo DSi system very easily, and with no faults. This is easy to hookup, and does a good job at charging. While it works great, it doesn't work with the earlier Nintendo DS systems: the original DS or DS Lite. If you've just started to enjoy your new Nintendo DSi, you'll definite want this as safe and simple way to charge it and drive.

bought this for my son to use in the car for his ds lite. He recently bought a dsi XL, which doesn't work with this charger, however gamestop gave us an adapter that makes it work just fine. Saved us from having to buy a new charger.

We got it, plugged it in and it started charging as advertised, no problem with the unit at all.

This product is a must for the car. Our children have Nintendo DS consoles, and no matter that there is more than one charger at home, there will be always one of the consoles needing recharging, just when we need to go someplace in the car. Great for long trips.

This charger worked great during a long road trip. With its 900ma of charging power, it had enough juice to charge the batteries even with the DSi turned on! It's 6' length was long enough to plug into the 12v outlet in the front console and reach the second row of the minivan. It has been a month with no problems so far. Will report again if any problems occur.
