This review is from: Nintendo GAMECUBE Game Boy Advance Cable - Game console link cable (Video Game)
Let me explain exactly what this does. By using it to connect your GBA and Gamecube, you can take advantage of special functions in games. It DOES NOT let you play your GBA games on TV. That is impossible, as the link port on the GBA cannot transfer that enourmous amount of information in a reasonable amount of time. There will be many Gamecube games that can use the GBA for many different things. Right now the only game to use it is Sonic the Hedgehog, and it is only used with the Chao Garden. Some people think it is a waste of money because only one game uses it, but there are dozens more games on the way and endless possibilities. For example, in the upcoming game Animal Crossing, you can use the GBA to access a secret island and to make custom texture patterns for various purposes. There are other games planning to do similar things. A new Kirby's Tilt n' Tumble is planned for GC that requires the GBA so you can use a special motion sensor pack that plugs into the GBA. Other examples include private plays in future sports games, or transferring items between corresponding GBA and GC games. Note that these features are not available in current games (other than Sonic) because games have to be specially programmed to take advantage of it.

It's required.,

Basically, this will be required for Pokemon Colosseum, Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles. It significantly enhances the gameplay of Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, and likely will do the same to next Zelda game (which won't be coming out for quite a while). If you plan on buying either of the first two games, buy this. If you want to add 1 and a half-player functionality (rather than 1-player) to Zelda, buy this. Otherwise don't. By the way... IT IS NOT A GBA PLAYER. YOU CANNOT PLAY GBA GAMES ON YOUR CUBE WITH THIS. Don't get mad at Nintendo because you didn't see what you were buying, guys...

This review is from: Nintendo GAMECUBE Game Boy Advance Cable - Game console link cable (Video Game)
This new GameCube-Game Boy Advance game link is the future of gaming. It will open up new worlds to gamers. Like previewing and choosing plays in secrecy on your GBA screen, or viewing the map of an RPG or adventure game your playing for GameCube, or even using the GBA as an extra GameCube controller. The possibilities are endless. And developers ARE noticing this. Already Sonic Adventure 2 Battle can use it for the Chao garden, and Animal Forest Plus (making it's way to North America later this year) uses the link as well. But other developers have hinted at there wanting to take advtange of it. Square said that they want to create a Final Fantasy game (yes, there back together) for GameCube and GBA that would use the link cable for something. The link it's self is very easy to use. Just plug the one end into a controller port on your GameCube, and plug the other end into the top of your GBA (the same place where the multiplayer link goes in). It has a lock on there so it fastens to your GBA so it can't accidently fall out, like in the early prototype. The transfer of data does take a little time, of course. But the wait isn't that bad. It usualy never last more then 15 seconds. Unfortunately you will not be able to play GBA games online threw this cable, as it is not fast enough to transfer the data at a fast enough speed. It would require a much thicker, and expensive wire. This is one accesory I highly suggest you buy if you own a GameCube and a Game Boy Advance...

A Must Have For Anyone Who Owns A GCN and A GBA,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Nintendo GAMECUBE Game Boy Advance Cable - Game console link cable (Video Game)
This is a cool new feature for GameCube. It lets you transfer information from specially designed games to your GBA,without having to buy a game pak (for the GBA).Below is a list of games that support the feature:Animal Crossing Visit a tropical island where it's always summer, and meet an island inhabbitant, eat coconuts, and even get a tan! How to do it: You can also design new clothes on the GBA,without having to pay Mabel and Sabel! How to do it: Plug it in,turn it on,talk to Mabel,go through the list, and start designing! Use the "Tingle-Ceiver" to plant bombs in the area of your choice, and get exclusive items! How to do it: You can take your pet Chao, and put it on the GBA so you can take your pet wherever you go! How to do it: In the Chao Garder,go to the big GBA stand that says, "Chao Adventure".Stand on the big red button, highlight you pet, and, well,I don't need to explain because the game pretty much tells you how to do it. If you still can't do it,consult the SA2B instrucions. NOTE:You must have the Mickey Mouse game for GBA to do this. By connecting the GBA to your GCN,you can link the two adventures to form one super-quest! How to do it: Overall,if you own any of the games I mentioned, then you absolutely, positivedly need this cable!

This review is from: Nintendo GAMECUBE Game Boy Advance Cable - Game console link cable (Video Game)
The purpose of the cable is not to play GBA games on a TV. It is to transfer data between the Gamecube and the GBA. The only one that has this ability yet is the Sonic games, but more are intended for release soon. So, for people who like to transfer data, good. For people who want to play GBA on the TV, bad. But, there is report of a company realeasing a new adapter to convert GBA games to a TV. So people who want to tranfer data, get it! If you just want to play GBA on the TV, get the other product and stop complaining here, because this is not the purpose of the cable.

Many months ago, my friend had a GameBoy Advance and I thought it was pretty dull. It was just another Gameboy handheld with nothing new. Then I realized. This small handheld had the same amount of bits as PS1!!! I never stopped to look at the graphics- which were amazing. He had F-Zero and Rampage Puzzle Attack, both great games, and I couldn't stop playing it when he let me borrow it. A few days later, I purchased one with F-Zero Maximum Velocity. I couldn't sleep knowing I had it. Every second I would be playing it. It was the best handheld I ever had (I have had GameBoy, GameBoy Color, Gamegear, and NeoGeo). I had tons of hours of fun with it. 2 months later I went to Circuit City and in the video game section they had three competing consoles- PS2, Gamecube, and Xbox. It was the first time i heard of Gamecube and Xbox and since most of my friends had PS2, I had decided to get one of the others. I took home a convenient mini-disc the same size as a Gamecube game disc and put it in my computer. It had previews of many games the Gamecube would be launching. This started my research of which one i should buy. I heard different opinions about both and most liked Gamecube. Plus it was 100 bucks cheaper which really helped my decision. I myself have always been promoting Nintendo. I have Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, and what would be a great add to the collection would be the GameCube!!! A few days after my decision, my friend told me that Gameboy Advance could hook up to Gamecube, which really surprised me. I thought that would be awesome. The second after Christmas I became a Gamecube fanatic. ... And the Gamecube games are excellent. I have done some research about what games that I would look foward to. Then i saw Kirby's Tilt and Tumble 2!! I downloaded a video about it and that great Shigeru guy was displaying how it worked. GBA was hooked up to the Gamecube and used as a controller to tilt Kriby around. This would be just like the Gameboy's classic but in a mixture of 128-bit and 32-bit graphics. Then I learned about the many games that would take advantage of this cable. Sonic was one of them. The first one I heard about was Animal Forest+, which is a sequel to the Japanese's N64 version. This looks like a great game. When I saw a picture of this cable here, I was stunned. I thought: Now it's official. There is certainly gonna be all the great features Nintendo has promised before. The Wavebird controller. And the Internet connections. When I saw this I new i had to make a review. This cable is incredibly spectacular and a must-have if you have Gamecube and GBA. If I took the time to write this whole thing just for a 10 dollar cable that can do great things, you know it's good.

I really like this cable. My dad bought it for me when I first got the GameCube, and it's totally effective. It's real easy to install, and give you a whole lot of specials for your 'Cube and GBA. I have 3 GBA compatible GameCube games. For Hot Wheels Velocity X, you get more cars, for NASCAR Thunder 2003, you can use your GBA to manage the data of your car, and you can go to Animal Island when you hook up the GBA to Animal Crossing! You can also use this to hook up to GBA SP and E-Reader. I hope you purchase this accessory for pure GCN/GBA link-up action!

A link cable that sets Game Cube & GBA apart from the rest!,

This review is from: Nintendo GAMECUBE Game Boy Advance Cable - Game console link cable (Video Game)
As of this writing, it's to my understanding that there are only 2 games on the market that take advantage of the features available with the use of this cable: "Sonic Adventure 2: Battle" and "Animal Forest" (Japanese-only). But that's just the beginning!Use this cable with "Sonic Adventure 2: Battle": Now, I know what you're thinking, "Oh, I could do the same thing with the Dreamcast and a VMU. Then, I could take my Chaos for a 'walk' and play games with it." But, no! This is NOTHING like a Chao on a Dreamcast VMU! Your Chaos will not only be seen in the GBA's 32bit color, but you'll also be able to play REAL games on your GBA with your little Choas such as "Chao Karate" and "Chao Racing"! Also, trade Chaos with your friends via a GBA2GBA link cable! "Animal Forest" (Japanese-only at this time): Another function served by this "GBA-to-Game Cube" cable is that it will allow you to use your GBA as a Game Cube controller (with compatible games only). For instance, you'll be able to plan "secret" football plays on your GBA, then execute them in the Game Cube game so that your opponent won't be able to see them coming! ...

I'm getting a little annoyed with people criticizing it for being a marketing tool, or for not doing what it has been hyped up to do. It does what it was meant to do, and the idea is truly great. Just because there are few games that make use of it now does not mean that it was a waste of money. First of all, you should check your games to see if the boxes say it can use the cable -before- you buy it. And for those who think it doesn't offer enough anyway, take a look at this: If you link Metroid Fusion and Metroid Prime with the cable, you can A.) Use Samus' Fusion Armor from Metroid Fusion in Metroid Prime, as well as B.) Play the original NES Metroid game on your Gamecube. What -isn't- cool about that? You get to play the entire first Metroid game, adding a third (and rather excellent) game to your library. And this is just the beginning. Companies are developing games that will use the cable in unique and worthwhile ways. Just have patience, it opens up a well of new opportunities, and at a very affordable price.

dont get this unless you have a specific intention for it. if you just want to buy cool gamecube accessories stay away from this! it does not function for many games at all, and even though it is a cool idea, i sold mine as fast as possible after i learned of its minimal capabilities. a product like this has potential, but definately wait until some good game comes out that supports it in a big way. dont let any review that says that its good without giving specific reasons of specific games that it is good for.
