Siri and her friends can go into the junkpile for all I care, Gameboy is still the best handheld around. Yeah, the screen only displays in shades of green and the sound is composed of beeps and squeaks, but Gameboy is still awesome. It is built like a rock and won't crack if it falls to the floor (unlike some phone I know...). The games on it are many and varied, yet one word would describe them all. Addicting. Who wouldn't be up to the huge task of collecting 150 Pokemon? Who wouldn't want to help Mario save his castle from a comical fat guy? Who doesn't like arranging falling blocks and getting the high score? Pure fun that the stupid birds in slingshots will never get close to. Gameboy may not be cutting edge anymore, but I have not seen a better handheld in a LONG time!

Verified Purchase
I ordered this for my mom who is recovering from surgery. When she had a surgery 10 years ago, my Game Boy was her favorite immobile pastime. My old one broke and I am so glad I was able to fine this one -- she loves it! It has kept her entertained while she can't move around.

The item arrived very quickly, in the exact condition described, working just right.

Thanks!

It's an "ancient", "useless" or "junk" system to many young gamers. You really do need to have played with this when it was "new". Lots of people sell these for only $1 at garage sales with lots of scratches, small cuts/dents to the plastic and without a battery cover (I never had my cover anyways). These are able to bring back SOOOO many memories and remembering hundreds of hours of gaming.
You CAN buy 2 or 3 of the games from it online at the 3DS EShop for under $10.00 but it's only available on the 3DS. They usually have full color but then it's more for the younger gamers.
People are selling these for over $300.00 and it's ABSURD!!! You shouldn't pay that much for a Gameboy (probably not working), a small accessory and 3 old "generic" games that don't work for long.\
If you're paying over $50.00 for one of these, you better be getting it IN THE BOX and possibly unopened!!!
Gamestop won't buy/sell/trade these due to their age but the garage sales, thrift shops and "small" gaming shops will sell these with the battery cover for <<NORMALLY>> $25.00 or less that works but without any accessories.
Though this sounds like a joke, this was the invention that made bathroom trips take A LOT longer at schools!
The little information packets that are in black and white and look like a small booklet or opens up like a road-map can, literally, be found with any Gameboy, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance (SP) or their games. Those aren't really worth paying extra for it. I'm about 90% sure that you shouldn't even bother to pay extra for that. Just take it if you are asked if you want it. Just because! :)

This is what you call a gaming system!!!! Released in 1989 and became outdated in 2007,wow....(This includes game boy, game boy color, game boy pocket, game boy light, game boy advance, game boy advance sp,and game boy micro). You don't need color or 3D graphics. All you need is this amazing hand held system.

Everyone who is complaining about the graphics,BACK OFF!!!! The only reason why you PLAY New game systems is because everyone else does. You want to feel cool just because kids have pokemon x for their 3Ds. You want to fit in so you get the game. WRONG!!!! Graphics don't matter. Fine,I'll admit it,the graphics aren't the greatest, but there not THAT BAD. The Atari has far worst graphics then this. If someone was to get you this system be thankful that it is a game system.

Hey?! Want to know a epic thing about the game boy? Well, these beauties last A VERY LONG TIME. The average age I would say would is about 10-14 years. A Ds would last like 6. Game boys and fall, crack, get beaten and still work.(no kidding). Hit someone with. I have a 99% chance that it will not break. It might freeze, but the screen would be just fine. Reset the game and it will work just fine. I think that's awesome. Hit something with a ds. I have a 90% chance the the screen would break and if your lucky, the system it'self Will break. If you want a good lasting game system, then buy this.

Oh yeah, the games. The gameboy has many good games. Kirbys dream land would be a good choice. I have never played it,but it look like fun. If you like kirby, then that would be a good choice. Tetris is another good choice. It's hard, but addicting. Never played the gameboy version, but looks great. Pocket Monster fan?(Japanese for pokemon). Well, pokemon red and blue a great games(I play). Gotta catch 'em all!!!!

I have three. One for the car, one in my camping bag, one on the coffee table. I bought one in 1989 and in 1998 it was stolen! Over the years I've acquired three more. The game library is tremendous so there are plenty of games to buy cheaply to enjoy. A few games I still play regularly--Donkey Kong Land, 1,2 and 3...Nintendo World Cup Soccer, Tetris, Super Mario Land, Tennis, Kirby Block Ball, Double Dragon, Ducktales 2, Pokémon Red, Pokémon Trading Card Game. But there are hundreds...maybe thousands to choose from so you will always be able to find ones you like. Have you ever tried to play a newer system outside in the sunlight? Very difficult to see the screen but NOT with this bad boy. You can play it very easily in extreme sun light. When people visit they always snatch it off my coffee table to play and they tell stories about certain games they had for theirs...very nostalgic and puts a smile on people's faces really fast! It isn't region locked so you can play awesome Japanese import games on it as well. I have 20 import games I really enjoy, too. It's still VERY playable and enjoyable even if the technology is rudimentary. Most people who had it when it came out, really have a deep love for this awesome system...there's just something special about how it feels in your hands and how well it works even with just TWO buttons. They're cheap and durable....if you have a friend who loves video games, for less than the price of one new game you can get this system and several games for them as an awesome gift. Recommended especially for Generation X and older. Guess what else? You really CAN use rechargeable batteries.Read more ›
