5.0 out of 5 stars Nintendo Zapper

1.0 out of 5 stars Gun With The Wind

These guns do not work on flat screen, LCD, or plasma televisions. So, unless your TV is an older model, don't waste your money. I wish someone had mentioned that fact before I let my kid spend his allowance on it.

No more Duck Hunt.

Making its debue with the game Duck Hunt, The Nintendo Zapper used light sensors to register your shots and would relay the information to the game. A must have for any Collector, and a great addition to any Retro Gamming Collection.

1.0 out of 5 stars Classic Nintendo Accessory, But Mine Doesn't Work, October 22, 2011

Well, I ordered it, it came, and I was pleased to see that the Zapper was clean and looked in working condition. However, it wouldn't work when I plugged it into my NES... it didn't work with the ever popular 'Duck Hunt' game I have, which I play on my 1990 television set, so I was disappointed. It's the seller's fault for not testing the product beforehand. Just be careful of who you order from.

4.0 out of 5 stars I didn't buy this as a controller..., November 27, 2010

This review is from: Nintendo NES Zapper Light Gun (Video Game)
The NES Zapper was a classic controller that allowed play of light gun games such as Duck Hunt.

However, those games are no longer in production, and don't stand the test of time too well.

The Zapper still makes a great prop, though. Remove the wire from the controller with a screwdriver and some ingenuity and you have yourself a great prop gun. It responds to paints rather well, though lighter colors such as yellow don't work as well as reds or blacks. I used it for a Halloween costume, and it feels nice for a prop gun. Many plastic revolvers sold in Halloween stores are uncomfortable, and many toy ray guns feel bulky. The Zapper, originally meant to be used as something accurate as well as sleek, was built well by the ergonomic masters at Nintendo, and has a nice feel to it.

A strong recommendation as a prop. As a controller...well, it was a nice piece of history before it was painted.
