Nintendo 64 N64/Playstation 2 PS2-PC USB Adapter Cable!

I got one of these over a year ago, and it has been absolutely fantastic. I'm really surprised by all these negative reviews, so let me set the record straight: it might look weird, but it works, and it works exceedingly well. When I first got it, I was using a regular Windows XP machine, and it worked with both PS2 and Nintendo 64 controllers (which is great because people usually prefer one or the other, I'm a Nintendo 64 person myself.) I used it for emulators and commercial games, no problems. Then I bought an iMac, and found out that this device works just as flawlessly in Mac OS 10.5 as it does in Windows XP, for both PS2 and N64 controllers. I've even tested it in Windows Vista, and it works perfectly with that too.

I'm wondering why these other comments are so negative. Maybe some people just don't know how to click on Control Panel and properly configure a game controller.

I have taken the liberty of debugging the myths of the one one star review of this product. One star... hardly. My comments [have these] around them.

[Not true, actually it works automatically if you have an XP machine that is functioning properly and has a working internet connection. The drivers DL automatically and nearly instantly once you plug the product in for the first time]

-causes your nintendo 64 or playstation controller to malfunction.

[Not True, this has never happened, works flawlessly every time for me]

-comes with an unreadable floppy disk.

[Mine never even came with a floppy and wasn't even needed any way, that's what the internet is for I am assuming sense one has ordered something using the internet that they would have the internet]

-comes with no other instructions or program guides

[what instructions could you possibly need you plug in the controllers and then plug in the USB cable that's it. You have one light for the PS(x) controller and one for the N64 controller toggle with the switch. You can configure the controller using the game controllers app. in your control panel under the start menu] -----

[So you can tell I like this product and would buy it again especially because it was so inexpensive.]

I recently bought this even after reading the negative reviews. When I got it I immediately plugged it in to see whether it would work. when I plugged the 64 controller in, XP recognized it immediately. I went to play a game with it and it worked like a charm. The only thing I had to do was calibrate the joystick (it wasn't getting the full range at first) and it has worked without trouble.

The playstation controller was the same way, XP recognized them in an instant and the only thing I needed to do was calibrate.

From my viewing of the converter, it looks like it should be handled with care, it might be easily breakable. Rated 5 stars because it was plug and play like it said (except calibrating, but asking for a controller to plug and play without calibration is asking a little much in my opinion), no lag time from controller to game, and is a great buy.

Since this is the only known nintendo 64 to USB adaptor out there that isn't selling for over $100 on ebay, I have no choice but to use it. For me it worked great... no hickups at all except that the USB cable started shorting out eventually making it garbage.

If you buy one of these, keep that in mind that you should be careful about bending the cables too much when you use it.

Other then that, all keys mapped fine for me on all emulators. There's just no substitute for using a REAL nintendo 64 or playstation controller to play games over any of the aftermarket ones available... the quality of the originals is just noticable plain and simple.

Works perfectly fine with Vista, for whoever said it doesn't. This product gets Five Stars for doing exactly what it supposed to do.

Ya tengo 11 meses con el control y me ha funcionado muy, ya que puedo jugar nintendo 64 con el "Project 64" y varios los puedo programar con el control, pero después de los 11 meses de uso el control ya presenta falso contacto, al conectarlo al USB tengo que conectarlo y desconectarlos como 10 veces para que la computadora me lo detecte. Es muy buen producto lamentablemente no aguantara mas del año.

I had no problem at all installing this adapter. Just plug-n-play it straight out of the box and Windows XP installs the necessary drivers automatically. I have only used it in combination with a N64 controller and I was impressed with how well it worked with emulators, specifically Proj. 64. It is nice being able to play your old games in higher resolutions through the use of an emulator, and this product allows you to capture an even greater experience by allowing the use of the actual controller. Great price for a great product.

I tried 4 different N64 controllers on my computer using this cable. It didn't work at all, the joystick moved on it's own and the buttons sometimes pressed automatically. But if you want to take your chances, go for it. That's what I did.

This USB device is great for use with Emulators. All the drivers download automatically in windows XP and your set to go. Plays N64 and PS1/PS2 games on your computer almost like with the council. Great Accessory!

Unlike some of the other reviewers I havent had any problems. The USB cord hasnt given out, and I run it on windows xp and it works fine. I dont even have a floppy drive on my Homebrewed computer so I dont know if the floppy it comes with works but it doesnt matter because xp downloads the drivers for you. One of the only N64 to USB converters, no problems, Emulate away!!

The complaints above are accurate. It is not a matter of knowing how to calibrate the controller once you use this Adaptor. You cannot calibrate the controller because the Adapator inccorectly signals to the computer that buttons are being depressed and the N64 joystick is being moved. And, just to be clear, I purchased a new controller to use in conjunction with this adator, so it is, by no means, a result of the controller.

You can take your chances. Apparently some people have had it work, but I am not in the lucky group.
