5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful 3ds XL! September 30, 2013
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I'll be reviewing my brother's XL since I see some people giving it a 1 star because of the price.

These look much better in person. The pictures online do not do it justice. The finish on these are a glossy finish and not the normal matte finish like previous XL models. This might be bad for those who hate fingerprints, as it is a fingerprint magnet on the outside, but it brings out the colors making them pop. They're a deeper, richer color compared to the regular blue and red XL's.

Xerneas has a nice metallic silver finish on the front and on the back you have silhouettes of the 3 starter Pokemon of gen 6 also in silver. The inside has the same matte black interior like the regular blue and red XL's.

These do not come with the games pre-installed or bundled which might be an issue for some people but its fine since it keeps the cost down. I highly would recommend picking one of these up if you're looking to buy a 3ds XL or thinking about upgrading to an Xl. You will not be disappointed, especially if you're a Pokemon fan.

Also please stop giving this a 1 star because of the high prices from the sellers on Amazon. Product reviews are only meant for reviews of the product themselves, not to warn people of high prices. The only thing you're doing is hurting the rating of the product itself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gorgeous. October 8, 2013
By Zaknal
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I'm a member of an internet community of collectors of Pokemon merchandise (pkmncollectors.livejournal.com), and I've been on the fence about whether or not to get a 3DS and whether or not to rejoin the Pokemon craze with the release of X and Y on October 12th. On September 27th, these limited edition 3DS XLs were released, and some of our comm members posted a myriad of pictures of the ones they had bought. Needless to say, I was immediately enamored with their design and set off to acquire one for myself. I was not disappointed.

Though the system is, as others have said, simply a 3DS XL with a design on it, there are a couple of notable differences. Firstly, the design is absolutely gorgeous, with a metallic silver glimmer on Xerneas and Yvetal in blackest black, with all lines smooth and just masterfully done. In the background of the design are two lightly silhouetted letters 'XY' for the upcoming games that these two legendary pokemon come from. The back/bottom of the 3DS also sports another 'XY' akin to the front/top, though it also has 3 metallic silver silhouettes of the 6th generation starter pokemon (Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakiie).

I'm assuming those of you interested in buying this particular 3DS XL have already done your research on what makes a 3DS XL different than a regular 3DS. I had seen only my roommate's regular 3DS, so I was doubly amazed when I pulled this one out of the box - the sheer size and pristine quality left me stunned and giddy with excitement. Not only was this 3DS XL massive and sturdier than its predecessor, but it was also just extremely well-colored and bright, popping red.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pokemon :D October 5, 2013
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
It's a completely normal 3DS XL- aside from the Pokemon aspect. The price here is high, sure- that's why you, idk, get it OFFLINE and stop complaining.

This console is way more beautiful out of the box. You have to see one in person to really appreciate the design. It's a mix between the matte and gloss finish, so it doesn't pick up fingerprints as badly as the glossy finish of a 3DS. So fingerprints will get picked up, but not as badly as I've experienced with my normal, glossy 3DS. As the other reviewer said, "Xerneas has a nice metallic silver finish on the front and on the back you have silhouettes of the 3 starter Pokemon of gen 6 also in silver." As well as X Y there as well as in the background on the top. "The inside has the same matte black interior like the regular blue and red XL's." I prefer the blue as the X Y show up better, but Yvental looks much better on a red background.

I give it five stars for the beautiful design, and five cuz the XL is a lovely beast compared to the smaller 3DS- especially for those who like to see our handheld games on bigger screens.

Besides, it will make your Pokemon loving friends jealous when they learn you have this!

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice Design September 29, 2013
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
It's just another 3DS XL with special artwork that you'll either love or hate. Personally, I'm content with my New Leaf XL and feel no other design looks better, especially with it being white, which is apparently a no-no in North America.

Anyway, the gloss finish, though not very ideal design wise, brings out the luster and appeal of these 3DS XLs. The reds and blues on these particular models are actually darker and glossy compared to their launch model brethren. On that note, it would have been nice if they chose some unique colors instead of just making the launch colors darker and glossy in my opinion.

They still look nice and are equipped with the exact same features you would find on an average 3DS XL model; nothing else stands out but the paint jobs, which are rather nice.

As a final note, could you people learn to REVIEW AND RATE ITEMS PROPERLY, instead of poorly carving out a review whining about your experiences with a seller, the pricing of the model on Amazon, along with other irrelevant feedback I constantly see in reviews of quite a few items on here? Leave that stuff to the appropriate avenues.

People are expecting feedback and a review on the PRODUCT ITSELF. Everyone knows how much these things are from other retailers at that; no need to have the review of the item reflected on your disagreement with "Amazon's price" of this particular model, among other insignificant things.

By the way, it's the THIRD PARTY SELLERS ON AMAZON setting those prices, NOT Amazon.
