5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent
I had a power surge at my house and my Wii was plugged in. I thought I would have to purchase a new game system. But was pleasantly surprised that all I needed was a power cord. Thanks for everything!

3.0 out of 5 stars DON'T BUY BEFORE YOU TRY THIS!!!
It just may be that your original power supply is NOT dead!

First, UNPLUG your "dead" power supply (from the wall outlet) and LEAVE IT UNPLUGGED for AT LEAST 30 minutes. Plug it back in - voila! Problem solved.

Unfortunately, I had already purchased this item by the time I learned of this. Oh, well, live and learn!

Now I have a backup just in case the original does die on me, but I do not have much confidence in the quality of this one. Definitely seems more cheaply made than the original. The markings on the bottom appear to be the same as the original, but not exactly. Also, this unit is lighter than the original.

2.0 out of 5 stars Beware - May not be orginal Nintendo Power Supply, March 14, 2009

I purchased this product from Vangoddy. They advertise both this product and another Wii replacement power supply that is clearly marked as a 3rd party replacement (for about $3 less). In reading the reviews, I noticed that there were complaints that the 3rd party replacements did not perform as well, so I paid the extra $3 thinking I was getting a genuine Nintendo part. The box I received clearly stated "This product is not licensed, designed, sponsored, endorsed or manufactured by Nintendo." I complained to Vangoddy, and they refunded me the difference between their two products. I do not know if they shipped me the wrong product or whether the genuine Nintendo product is not really a genuine Nintendo product. So far, in two days of use, no problems. But time will tell. If you really want the genuine product replacement, you may want to check with the vendor to verify that they really are providing a Nintendo part.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad shielding on power supply - Call Nintendo instead, December 3, 2010
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars

This power supply is not well-shielded. We get a diagonal (///////) radio frequency interference pattern running across the TV screen.

I figured there would be a long, involved process to get a replacement power supply from Nintendo for our six month old Wii, so I ordered this knock-off power supply until I had time to dig up the proof of purchase and other documentation I expected to have to provide to Nintendo.

The good news is that failed power supply/AC adapters must be a known issue with the Wii, because the Nintendo representative I talked to took my word for the unit being less than one year old, didn't require proof of purchase, and promptly shipped a properly-shielded (no interference pattern), Nintendo-branded power supply free of charge.

Save your money, drop a dime to Nintendo instead.

1.0 out of 5 stars Puts out electrical noise that distorts picture, December 29, 2010

No good -- causes distortion of picture quality in the form of "snowy" lines jumping across the screen. I thought it was the video cable but after trying my third cable it dawned on me to swap out the power supply with the Nintendo original, and the distortion went away completely. This thing must have no electrical shielding.

As a replacement for an authentic Wii power adapter, this product is not worth the savings from the 19.95 genuine product from Nintendo. It came not properly grounded causing lines on the screen and a buzz that ran through the tv and surround system. Fearing damage to the Wii console, I replaced it with the genuine thing.

The plug is a bit lighter than the original but cord is longer and it works and hopefully continues to work. It also is cooler than the OEM plug with the Wii.

2.0 out of 5 stars poor quality?, September 27, 2010

The replacement power supply came in and I instantly noticed that the box on the cord was much lighter in weight than the original. It does work (my original got hit by a power surge), but it makes the screen fuzzy like before TV's went digital. It does not put out a quality supply of power, but will get me by for now.

This product is not adequately shielded. My TV screen is covered with snow - probably from a motor, like one of my aquarium pumps. I don't recommend this item.
