5.0 out of 5 stars Mine is perfect for NES/SNES/Genesis, April 8, 2010
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
I'm not sure what the other reviewer's problem was, but mine works flawlessly. I'll admit that I haven't tested the Nintendo 64 port, but the NES, Super NES and Genesis ports work perfectly. A nice feature (perhaps just incidental) is that you can leave multiple controllers plugged in at once and all of them will work -- no need to unplug an NES controller to use the SNES controller and so on. I imagine most people are interested in this for those three ports anyway (the GameCube controller seems like it would be adequate for the Wii's N64 virtual console games). If I am able to edit this review, I will test this later with an N64 controller - I have some around I just haven't needed to use them for anything lately.

I have been using this on my Gamecube with Sonic Mega Collection, Namco Museum 50th Anniversary, and Midway Arcade Treasures 1 + 2. I have also tested it with the SD Media Launcher which allows you to run emulators for NES/SNES/Genesis/TG16/etc, and it feels just like I'm playing the original systems. It will perform identically on a Wii console, as the GameCube-compatible hardware (controller ports, etc.) is exactly the same in the Wii as it is on the GameCube.

Again, it's perfect as far as I'm concerned.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must for the Wii owner with a taste for the classics, August 27, 2010
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars

This review is from: Nintendo Wii 4-in-1 Virtua Retro Adapter (Accessory)
No beating about the bush..this is a great little item. I play alot of classics on the wii, and as we all know, the wiimote, great as it is, doesn't do well on alot of the classic games..so when I saw the 4n1 I jumped all over it and hoped for the best. I can safely say my hopes were met. The 4n1 plugs into your wii's gamecube port, and has a goodly sized cable that runs to a small white box with the four connectors. The Cable from the box to the wii is quite adequate, however I needed a bit more length so I bought a Gamecube extender cable and I'm happy to report it works fine with the 4n1. Once connected, the 4n1 acts as a gamecube stick and I can tell you i've had ZERO problem with it. I've tried MK, Capcom vs, Data East Classic, and all the Virtual Consoles games, and aside from the aforementioned button swap on the N64 controls, these are dead on. I read other review that mentioned lag..I can tell you I've had ZERO lag. I've tried every port with multiple sticks and can only say that personally I've had nothing but good results. For the price, I think this is a helluva deal, and I recommend the 4n1 highly.

5.0 out of 5 stars NES/SNES/GENESIS - PERFECT FOR THESE SYSTEMS, April 16, 2010
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
I had no problems playing with NES / SNES / GENESIS controllers at all. I had a few issues with the N64 controller, but I realized that my controller was actually broken, and not the item itself.

When I received it, I loved the packaging design, the package was completely sealed. You could tell that the manufacturer, Gtron I believe, has put in some serious quality control on the packaging and product.

First impressions: the product is nicely labeled so you know at least where to insert your controllers. The product also has a red indicator light in the center of product notifying you that the product has been officially recognized.

It's a huge help that there are only two settings for a switch, one for NES/SNES/GENESIS and one for N64

Games played:
NES - Super Mario Bros - Mapping & Button config, flawless, no lag

SNES - Final Fantasy II - Mapping & button config, flawless, no lag

Genesis - I gained the strength to spend 800 points on a genesis game just to purchase Altered beast, again, no problems

N64 - I need to find my old controllers as well, I will come back and report my results as soon as I find it.

The adapter gives me that original retro feeling when I was back in my early 20's. I love it.
