The list author says: "I received a lot of great feedback from my first Nintendo DS list (Young boys' Nintendo DS games) and requests for more superhero titles.
There's few fun superhero games available for young players. I look for games that are easy to understand, avoid unnecessary gore and language, and capture the spirit of the superhero.
Since the Nintendo Game Boy Advance (GBA) games can also be played on the Nintendo DS, I've created a list combining the best of both. If you own a Nintendo DSi, you won't be able to play the GBA games.
This isn't a comprehensive list of all games available, rather it reflects just the Nintendo DS and GBA games we own and rate highly. You'll notice many superhero games (for example, Superman Returns, Daredevil, Ghost Rider and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, and Power Rangers: Super Legends) didn't make our list.
Please don't hesitate to send me an email if you have more questions."
"Enjoy the campy, fun Batman of the 1960s? Share Batman: The Brave and the Bold with your children and let them enjoy playing as the Caped Crusader as well as several of the lesser known crime fighters who teamed up with Batman."
"There aren't many superheroes under the age of 12. That makes Ben 10 a favorite for our kids, who love this game! Some of the boss levels are tricky but, overall, this game is great fun for Ben 10 fans."
"The sixth Spider-Man title on the Nintendo DS is the best of them all. You no longer play like Spider-Man, with these controls you feell like you *are* Spider-Man. The easier controls are great for younger players."
"Not as challenging as the first Ben 10 release but die-hard fans of the cartoon will want to play this game, too, so they can change into Swampfire, Jet Ray, Humungousaur, Spidermonkey and Big Chill."
"Young kids will find the GBA version a lot more fun than the Nintendo DS translation from the movie. The downside for parents is that you don't get Robert Downey Jr. voice clips but little superhero fans will have an easier time with this version."
"You can still find a new copy for less than $20. If your child enjoyed the Hulk on Nintendo DS you should check this one out, too. *NOTE* GBA games are compatible on the DS system not the DSi system."
"Another fun movie translation where you get to switch you start by switching between Mr. Incredible and Frozone. The gameplay is very easy for young players. *NOTE* GBA games are compatible on the DS system not the DSi system."
"We owned both this GBA version and later bought the Nintendo DS game, Justice League Heroes. What you give up in graphics you'll more than make up in fun gameplay as The Flash spins around bad guys in this fun DC title. *NOTE* GBA games are compatible on the DS system not the DSi system."
"Beast Boy and Robin were the draws for my sons. After seeing the cartoons and hearing the catchy theme song (which is captured here) my sons were hooked. *NOTE* GBA games are compatible on the DS system not the DSi system."
"Venom is the star of this Spider-man title. The game play is simple and the game design has a great comic book feel. But be prepared to help younger players read the comic panels. *NOTE* GBA games are compatible on the DS system not the DSi system."
"My eldest son is a huge Batman fan and it took my some time to find a title that kept his interest while still being easy enough for him to play. *NOTE* GBA games are compatible on the DS system not the DSi system."
"This is one of the few movie translations that works. You can easily switch between all four member of the Fantastic 4 -- The Human Torch, Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman and The Thing. *NOTE* GBA games are compatible on the DS system not the DSi system."
