5.0 out of 5 stars Easterman at his best
Daniel Easterman is, in my opinion, one of the best thriller writers around, but this book is easily his best (there are few of his books I have not read). Once you have finished reading the start of the book you will soon find it hard, if not impossible, to close this book until you have read through to the end.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not that great
I picked this book up at a bookstore on vacation. The setting, premise and cover blurbs made it look very interesting. It was interesting, but so ridiculously far-fetched to make one laugh out loud. And the reader could clearly see everything coming a mile away. It perhaps is immature writing by the author, after all the copywrite says 1989, but I found it highly...

5.0 out of 5 stars AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!, December 17, 1997

This review is from: The Ninth Buddha (Paperback)
Just a great book all around. It may take 50 pages until you get into it, but after that... Easterman is the best author around today, and this may be his best book.

And the reader could clearly see everything coming a mile away. It perhaps is immature writing by the author, after all the copywrite says 1989, but I found it highly predictable and preachy. I gave it 3 stars for setting and atmosphere, but it was TRITE. Give me a break, a woman spending a lifetime in virtuous Buddhism suddenly jumps in the sack with a white guy from England? Not to mention the book ends badly, everybody dies, and it just fizzles.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exotic adventure, May 31, 1998
This review is from: The Ninth Buddha (Paperback)
Easterman's "The Ninth Buddha" was one of those books that I picked up at the bookstore because it looked like it MIGHT BE interesting. I started reading it and read the entire thing over two evenings. Fascinating reading altho the tale seems to be far fetched at times, but isn't that why we pick up a book entitled, "The Ninth Buddha?"

5.0 out of 5 stars Robert Ludlum meets Stephen King, September 12, 2011
I read Daniel Easterman because the title of this book intrigued me. And it is an intense, fascinating ride into, believe it or not, scenes of horror.

I did not expect that, I thought it was a "search" or a "rescue" or that type of "spy" novel. It was, but it was so much more. Easterman has become one of my favorite authors. Easterman is a pseudonym. Under his "real" name he authors ghost stories. And they are quite good, as well.

You will not be able to put this novel down and then you will seek out all of his other novels. There is an air of otherworldlyness to each and every book he creates.

Hang on.

The Ninth Buddha is the absolute best mystery novel that I have ever read. It captivates the mind of the reader and entrances the soul.

Daniel Easterman is the Nom de Plume of Denis McEoin, professor at Univ. Newcastle-upon-Tyne, an embittered ex-Baha'i.
