The online pricing is much better than the salon too.

All the products are now manufactured in Mexico and regardless what they say in customer service, the products are not the quality that they were before P&G took over.

I'm questioning the authenticity of this product. I just received it today and immediately noticed some differences from my previous purchases. This product is made in Mexico (and distributed by The Wella Corporation) while my previous purchase was made in USA. Instead of a direct print bottle, it has paper labels. I compared ingredients and a few ingredients were missing from the new purchase. I'm not sure if they are important though, as most of the ingredients are the same and listed in the same order. The labels reference the correct website and provide the correct contact information for Nioxin Customer support for US and Canada.

Opening the bottles; The look and texture are pretty close but the smell is less medicated and more minty.

I have contacted Nioxin Customer support from their website regarding this product purchase and will rate 5 stars if I get back the product is legitimate, I will update this post either way, but at the moment I'm a bit concerned this may be a knock off. I did ask support in my email if there had been a change in ingredients, so they are aware of everything I stated in my review here. Hopefully I get a response back within the next day or two.

Update as of 09/1/2011:

Here is my response from Nioxin customer support:

"Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for contacting Procter and Gamble Professional Care Exclusive Lines.
We just re-launched our new line of Nioxin products Made in Mexico. The new
labels are sticker form on the bottle. Please be aware we do not sell to ANY
online dealers, we only distribute to salons, so it is best if purchased at a
salon. You can find all of your local salons that carry our product on our salon
locator on the website at [....

I had hair that was thinning due to Diabetes and a friend recommended I try Nioxin. I've been using it for about a year now and can't believe how much fuller my hair is. I can no longer see my scalp. I have recommended it to several family members who have thinning hair.

I used to work for NIOXIN and have been a NIOXIN salon for over 20 years. The bottom line is this....NIOXIN isn't the same line that it used to be. Not even close. The line no longer removes DHT from the scalp, DOES contain PVP, is full of perfumes, is heavy and builds up on hair.....I could go on and on.
All the products are now manufactured in Mexico and regardless what they say in customer service, the products are not the quality that they were before P&G took over. It's really a shame because NIOXIN was an outstanding line for fine and/or thinning hair.
Sad to say, I'm saying good bye to NIOXIN in my salon. The products we once knew are gone for good and I would almost bet that within a few years the line won't be around at all. RIP NIOXIN

I've purchased this Nioxin System off Amazon for a couple of years now and have definitely notice a difference in the quality with my recent purchase. I did start noticing that other reviewers were questioning if it was the same product and how its no longer Made in the USA, but in Mexico. I thought (read prayed) that they were exaggerating and it really couldn't be all that different. FAILED!

I compared the bottles of my recent Amazon purchase with previous purchase and these are the changes that I noticed:

1) Ingredient is different
2) Not quite the same color
3) Texture is different (oilier/creamier)
4) Made in Mexico
5) Made by Wella
6) Not as tingly
7) Made my hair greasy/oily-looking really fast
8) Label is a sticker
9) I started noticing my hair was falling out again

Anyway, I could deal with #'s 1-8, but #9 was a deal breaker for me.

It took me awhile to write this review. I wanted to give it some time to work but it only got worse (more hair falling out). I'm not saying that the product made my hair fall out, I'm saying it didn't do its job of keeping it from falling out.

Since I spent so much money on it, I'm trying to finish it off. Except I get so annoyed every time I go wash my hair. Where will I find another product like the previous formula of Nioxin? I also noticed TJ Maxx, Marshalls and the like were selling this product and the bottles were made in USA! Unfortunately, this was before I realized that I wasn't going to like the bottles I just received and didn't buy any. I'll have to go back and check.

Lastly, I noticed that a couple of newer reviews that just came in were all 5 Stars - I'm wondering where their product was manufactured in?

Since Procter & Gamble moved production to Mexico, the product doesn't seem to be nearly as good as it used to be. The Scalp Therapy used to really tingle on my scalp and now it doesn't do anything other than just sit there. Apparently, they closed down the U.S. manufacturing plant and started producing Nioxin in Mexico. It appears to me they may have also changed the formula. Either way, I don't perceive the same thickening effect it used to have. This is unfortunate because I used to really love this product line.
