Perfect soundtrack for a perfect show.,
By
This review is from: Nip/Tuck (Audio CD)
As good as this show is, I just had to express my opinion about the quality of this soundtrack. It is absolutely flawless. It is hip, sexy and completely captures the mood of the show. From a brilliant remix of a title song to new versions of old favorites this is a must have CD for everyone, even if you don't watch the show. One song that I HAVE to single out (which was the reason I bought the CD to begin with) is "So Damn Beautiful" by Poloroid. I'm not sure how to describe just how good this song is. I have been listening to this CD non stop since I got it 2 weeks ago. Excellent CD. If you like the show, you'll love the soundtrack, if you've never seen the show you'll love the soundtrack and want to see the show itself.

Dark and moody like the television series,

"Nip/Tuck" is probably one of the few original tv series I like on basic cable at the moment. I have always loved actor Julian McMahan since his days on "Profiler" and later "Charmed" as the love-stricken demonic Cole/Balthazar. I was thrilled to see that there was a soundtrack from the show. I especially wanted to buy it when I saw that Delerium vocalist Kirsty Hawkshaw has a track on the cd called "Just Be Me". I found a promo copy of the soundtrack to "Nip/Tuck" today and immediately bought it. The soundtrack is excellent. It is mixed by the duo Gabriel & Dresden so you gotta know that the soundtrack is going to have that laid back, chillout sound. The cd kicks off with the excellent theme song by The Engine Room. If there is one song on this cd that you truly have to hear is "Falling" by Chris Coco (who did mixed the "Chilling at the Playboy Mansion" discs). The melody sends chills down my spine. I think it is Grieg's "Morning" that Chris Coco lifts from because the melody is simply lovely and certainly stirs the soul. Of course I love "Just Be Me" the Kirsty Hawkshaw track. There isn't any song that Kirsty could do that I wouldn't like. She has never disappointed me. Daniel Ash's interpretation of "Fever" was a pleasant surprise. Normally I like hearing other women sing the sultry jazz track but Daniel does a great job at reinventing the song. If you like chillout music and the show "Nip/Tuck", this soundtrack is ideal for you. I wasn't disappointed in it.

This album is just as unique in the music industry as the show Nip/Tuck is within the landscape of today's television. The songs are far off the beaten path as it gets yet their vibe is familiar. The show is reminiscent of the Miami Vice era of televison and this soundtrack could be an equal to Miami Vice's soundtrack which featured Phil Collins' greatest hit, In the Air of the Night.
A minus for me is that after track 4 the songs begin to sound the same. There is not mood changes. Not a couple of fast tunes then a few slower songs. They are pretty much on the same tempo. But the first 4 tracks are worth it. The show's theme: A Perfect Lie is a great song and sets the Nip/Tuck mood instantly. The next two songs, So Damn Beautiful and Angels, are both great songs but the second song features Norah Jones. I want to like it more because she more familiar to me than Poloroid (the first song's artist) but I just love So Damn Beautiful. So sorry Norah but Poloroid out rocks you on this track. Fever is an all time favorite song of mine and I have loved every renditiion of it I have heard (ie Madonna has one and a jazz version that I believe is the original) and this is no different. Daniel Ash has Nip/Tuck'd this song just right. And it is used quite often on the show. If you are a fan of Nip/Tuck the series, than the soundtrack is a great buy too.

Sexy and Hip, Just Like the Show,
By Diamond D (Philadelphia, PA USA) - See all my reviews

I am hooked on nip/tuck and always love the music they play on the show, so I bought this CD and instantly loved it! It's hard to explain the music, but the words sexy, hip, mellow, sultry, and electronic come to mind. You absolutely can't miss Gabriel & Dresden's remix of the theme song (track 1)--it is FIERCE! This is a very sexy, relaxing, and unique CD. Highly recommended not only to fans of the show but anyone else that enjoys "chillout" music.

Killer Music From a Killer Show!,

This review is from: Nip/Tuck (Audio CD)
From the first time I stopped on FX about half way through episode 3 of Nip/Tuck, I knew that I had just found my favorite new show. Not only was the show super cool and over the top, but the music was what I listen to everyday. It is not very often you hear "chillout" and "downtempo" type music on the TV. So my ears really perked up.This CD is a collection of some of the best tracks used for season one, mixed by the incredible Gabriel & Dresden team. The aforementioned DJ team have done some of the greatest remixes as of late, the first track on this CD included. It has been said before in these reviews, but if you dig chillout and downtempo, you really should get this CD. DJ Goop

Each track on this album has it's own immaculate sound. The powerful lyrics combined with the masterful mixes are utterly intense. The mixes are brilliant. I can't even think of which song I would list as my favorite b/c there is not one song that I would skip over. Simply transcendent You will be in awe when you listen to this album.
Nip/Tuck is an amazing compilation where all the tracks flow seamlessly into one another. Absolutely perfect!

Cleverly written, always has a twist and a radiant soundtrack. For Tara, the song is, "Cars" by Gary Numan.

Painless ... don't you wish you were famous?
This soundtrack contains tracks with enough talent and sexiness to seduce even a hard rocker like myself. This is a rather laid back collection, with some erotic moods, some dark moods, and some light hearted moments that have a distinctive disco feel to the industrial bed that birthed them. Whatever you are looking for here, you will find stylish competence within some tightly composed tunes. While the overall content of this soundtrack has a mellow attitude, there are lots of different sounds to be sampled. My favorites would be the funky industrial 'The Headphonist', 'Cosmopolitans' and 'All The Way To The Top' and the haunting sounds of 'So Damn Beautiful' and 'Following'. I also really love the ultra sexy 'A Perfect Lie' (the theme song for the series) and 'Fever'. 'Lonely' is rather jazzy, while 'Elvis' is bluesy. My least favorite would be the disco-ish 'Price Of Love' and 'Just Be Me' along with folksy 'Pride'. The music might tend to have more meaning if you are a fan of the show, but even if you have never watched Nip/Tuck, I think you will find something in this soundtrack that will speak to the little voice deep inside you. Light, dark, sexy, surreal, this is music that you can kick your shoes off to. Enjoy!

Great!,

I have to admit, I have never watched NIP/TUCK. I heard this soundtrack at a friend's house and I was transformed. I am really into laid back chillout music, and this is a great CD filled with songs that make you want to just relax and cuddle with someone. The soundtrack was produced by Gabriel & Dresden. Some artists included are Chungking, Syntax, Poloroid, Chris Coco, The Engine Room, and many others. A great soundtrack!
