4.0 out of 5 stars Nipper's Greatest Hits The 30's Volume 1, January 3, 2007

A nice collection of 20 period songs that include some familiar selections such as Happy Days are Here Again, Stardust, We're In The Money, Moonlight Serenade and Kate Smith with Orchestra singing God Bless America along with 15 others. These are old recordings and a few do not have great sound quality as versions done later, but, are authentic. Amazon.com's music samples were very helpful.

5.0 out of 5 stars For use in nursing home music program, December 29, 2011

This is a truly great cd for a certain age group like you might find in a nursing home. Call it 'music therapy' or just plain fun. I have not used it in the nursing home yet but I have been listening for my own pleasure. The heck with the nursing home; it's great therapy for me. Meaning, of course, that I have been having fun listening to this stuff. The songs are chosen well and the sound reproduction is excellent. These Nipper's Greatest Hits albums are always good.

Having an antique store where vintage music is continual, this CD was one of my favorites. I played it over and over and the comments received were always positive (no longer have a store). I play it still - if you love the era of the 30's, you'll LOVE this music!

5.0 out of 5 stars Impressive, April 22, 2010

The cd and the service were both impressive. This is the place to come for those hard to find items you can't find in a music store. And the cd is a very good reflection of what music was like in the 30s. Almost makes you feel like you're there.

I used this to provide background music for a special "Great Depression" exhibit my history students put together for the rest of the school. GREAT selection for representing the 1930s, except for a real important omission: "Brother, Can You Spare A Dime" is not on this CD and it should be. Other than that, the tunes are right on target and Kate Smith's rendition of "God Bless American" is wonderful.
