I used these bottles with my DS (born 2007) and my DD (born 2009). I chose them because they were BPA free (even before most people knew about that), vented (=anti gas/colic), and the very unique shape of the nipple. When a baby nurses, the mother's nipple doesn't exactly stay round like how most bottle nipples are, it gets flattened as the baby strips it with his/her tongue. This nipple mimics that and therefore was the only thing my 4 week old DD would use. We tried several other types of bottles, including Dr. Brown's, Adiri, Playtex Drop-Ins (latex), Breast Flow, and this is the only one she could figure out how to use (she couldn't figure out what to do with her tongue with all of the others)

I had whole sets of Nuk and Avent bottles and nipples long before my baby was even born, but when we started introducing bottles to her, she fussed and was impossible to feed. Since I had to return to work adn she couldn't nurse from my 60 something mother who had her, this was a real problem. We noticed she much preferred the Mam pacifiers to the Nuk ones, so we thought the nipples might be preferred too. Sure enough, as soon as we switched to these nipples, the bottle was accepted happily. Yay Mam! The bottles kind of suck - way too complicated - but the nipples fit onto an Avent or Nuk bottle, and she is happy.

These nipples are great for my daughter. I use the Mam pacifiers because my child won't use any other ones, and they are highly recommended by my child's doctor. The only negative thing I have to say about these nipples is they are not interchangable with regular bottles. you HAVE to use the Mam bottles with these nipples, and the bottles are a bit bulky for an infant to hold onto. Other than that they are perfect!

These are great! We love the Born free glass bottles, but the nipples that come with them are terrible... hence looking for a better option that will fit them. Thanks Mam - now my babies can use those bottles without swallowing too much air and throwing up all their milk!

Update: I still love these nipples, and one of my twins will ONLY take these. Just wanted to share a tip for using with the Born Free glass bottles. Sometimes they can leak if they aren't screwed on super super tight. An easy fix: cut off the nipple portion of the original born free nipple that came with the bottle, so you're left with just the silicone ring. Insert the silicone ring on top of the vent insert before screwing on the top w/ nipple. No more leaks!

Do be aware that the flow of these nipples is faster than other brands. The slow flow works really well, but it is more generous in output than other nipples labeled slow flow. My nearly 8 month olds can't handle the stage three yet and are still using these. The stage twos seem to be hard to find....

The nipples that came with my Born Free glass bottles were WAY to fast for my 2 month old. These nipples are GREAT! My son seems to transition from breast to bottle much easier with these nipples, and the flow is appropriate for a newborn. There's a small hole on the side of the nipple to let air into the bottle - it is wonderful! Just be aware of it when you tip the bottle to test the milk temperature. It may seem like milk is leaking out, but it is fine once baby is sucking on the nipple, no milk comes out of the side hole - just air going in.

Style Name: X-Cut Flow
I've used other x-cut nipples and loved them. These are well made and high quality, but the have a hole punched in the end so the x doesn't completely close. It's always dripping all the contents out where other brands are closed and only open when they are being sucked on.

Style Name: Fast Flow Verified Purchase
I love these and so does my little one. I chose them because they were supposed to be closest to breastfeeding and I wanted my daughter to be able to transition back and forth easily with no confusion or refusal. We had no problem; she took a bottle at 2 weeks and maintained breastfeeding without issue. For that alone I'd give it 5 stars! We also had no issues with gas or colic, so the MAM system as a whole functioned as promised in that regard, too.

The bottles and nipples were easy to clean - just popped them in the dishwasher. The nipples held up great - she's now over a year (with plenty of teeth!) and they are still functioning perfectly without any wear or discoloration.

I did find that the age recommendations were a bit off for my daughter - she wasn't ready for the fast flow until she was older than the recommended 4+ months. We used the medium flow (with formula) for the first 9 months or so, then switched to the fast flow and that was perfect for her.

This nipple is perfest for my four month old, and, combined with the Mam bottles, the only alternative to breat feeding she would accept.
