"Nirvana Cafe" is Karunesh's second release for the Real Music label. More adventurous than the earlier "Zen Breakfast," I really like the variety of sounds and moods on this album. 2.0 out of 5 stars The worst of Karunesh
When I first bought Zen Breakfast I was very pleased, great music for studying, reading or just chilling out. I was so satisfied that I bought two more disks from Karunesh, those were "Joy of Life" and "Call of The Mystic". They were great too. Actually my favorite is Joy of Life. I've been studying for a very demanding exam this past 6 months, the only thing that gets...

"Nirvana Cafe" is Karunesh's second release for the Real Music label. More adventurous than the earlier "Zen Breakfast," I really like the variety of sounds and moods on this album. Although intensely spiritual in nature, "Nirvana Cafe" conveys more of a zest for life than many recordings of this type. Some of the tracks are quiet meditations, but others bring in strong bass and percussion, just begging to have the volume cranked up a few notches! Govi contributes outstanding guitar work on four tracks, and the rest of the varied sounds are multi-instrumentalist Karunesh working his musical wizardry. I love "Revelry", a rhythmic confection with pan flutes playing a simple but compelling melody. Other instruments are introduced as the song goes on. I hit the "replay" button on my CD player for this one all the time. "Keeper of Mystery" is more ambient, but also has a strong rhythm. It is dream-like but also catchy. "Chuang Tzu's Dream" tells the story of the Taoist sage's dream that he was a butterfly. Upon waking, he couldn't tell if he was a man dreaming he was a butterfly or a butterfly dreaming he was himself. Very beautiful, soothing, and intriguing with Asian influences and lovely flute work. "Sapphire" is another beauty with lots of open space to float around in. Actually, all of the tracks are really good - those mentioned are favorites, but there really are no weak spots. Very highly recommended!

The first time I heard this album I thought now thats more like it!! This took me back to his first album. Songs that move and change and when they do that, you find yourself humming along. This music is why I buy New age in the first place.....because it is MUSIC!! This album has taken me along way since I first heard Karunesh 6 years ago when his song Dawnlight was played on my local cable systems DMX digital music. I knew then I would like his music very much. This album gets 5 stars and deserves them. This album has replaced Colors of Light as my favorite Karunesh album. VERY highly suggest fan get this one today!! Now I could tell you something about each song as other seem to do, but my music tastes are just that....MINE. You may not like the same music I do, but I will say this, when I write a review on this site it is because this is just to good not to tell people about. Enjoy it for yourself.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is MUSIC, March 29, 2006
This review is from: Nirvana Cafe (Audio CD)
Like the person who wrote the last review, this is real music. The first Karunesh album i bought was Global Spirit. I was down in Orlando, Florida at a crystal shop, of all places, and heard "Solitude" playing. I cannot describe how wonderful I felt listening to it. However, I can say that it helped me get out of my depression. And to this day "Solitude" is still my favorite song. This song nor any of the others I have heard from Karunesh have ever become boring nor do they get "stuck in your head" like many annoying music I hear on the radio.

I really wish Karunesh could read this. If he can, I love his music because it is so filled with love and compassion and passion. the former Passion and life that was so clear in "Global Spirit" seemed a little bit lost or umimplemented in "Zen Breakfast" Perhaps because he was going to another stage of life and self discovery. However, it is once back again in "Nirvana Cafe." I must confess, though, that I have only heard these three albums from Karunesh.

Karunesh, Please keep up the great work. You have helped me and many others, I believe.

An incredibly plush and enticingly sumptuous easy chair for the Imagination to sit in, and...... all at once feel rested and released! My sincerest gratitude to Karunesh and an open invitation to use my splendidly worded review for marketing this blossom that has fallen from the Tree of Enlightened Musical Talent!

Excellent music...a superb compliment to Zen Breakfast. I play both pieces repeatedly throughout the day while at work...relaxing without being intrusive on my work.

4.0 out of 5 stars A familiar - and pleasing - sound, October 22, 2002
This review is from: Nirvana Cafe (Audio CD)
The first thing that came to mind when I was listening to this music is that it sounds an awful lot like recent Mike Oldfield - which is just great, because I loved Tres Lunas and The Songs of Distant Earth. If you did, too, then you'll probably like Nirvana Cafe.

Love the music on Nirvana Cafe!! It's very soothing, relaxing and just what is needed when driving long distances or in heavy traffic. I purchased Oasis Night (through Amazon) months ago and love that one too. You can't go wrong when buying through Amazon.com

"Nirvana Cafe" is a great CD of ambient electronic music for anytime listening. I recommend it for creative work, meditation, yoga, dance warm-up, healing work and environment enhancing. It would also be good for a low key party or dinner. It's very groovy and chill, with lots of neat sounds. There isn't really any singing on the CD, it's all instrumental with a couple short, sparse chants. It could be described as New Age, space or star-gazing music, world music as well. It's an interesting listen.

5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE IT! I LOVE IT!, February 24, 2009

While I was looking through a book/music store in Sydney Australia (where I live) I spotted the Nirvana Cafe CD by Karunesh. My first thought was WOW, he's back! Not knowing that he had produced about 10 CDs since the 4 I bought in the early 90's. LOL. I bought it on the spot and am I glad I did. It is just as good as the ones I already have. He is such an up-beat type of musician with those lovely beats in the middle of delightful melodies. His music always has the ability to make me feel better in times of stress or troubles. Keep up the great work Karunesh and for those of you who have never heard it - give it a try - you'll be surprised at how enchanting it is!.
