Nissan Z & ZX 1970-88 Repair Manual,
By Jeff Peck (Lexington, Kentucky) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Nissan Z & ZX, 1970-88 (Chilton's Total Car Care Repair Manual) (Paperback)
Thsi book is the worst repair manual I have ever seen. It is very vague and tries to cover too many vehicles at a time. Almost no detail except for the wiring diagrams.

Chiltons just tried to fit to much into one book. If your going to get a book get one that just covers the Z that you have. There is little to no detail in the interior/exterior part of the book. I was disappointed with this book in comparison to other chiltons books

I regret the purchase of this poorly organized manual in which there is an attempt to encompass to many vehicle types in one manual. the information has too many gaps for even experienced mechanics. if you have ever flipped through a Clymer manual published by intertec you will understand truly sensible organization of a technical manual. i only wish one was available for the Z's. don't waste your money on this book.

Complete novice to vehicle repair and found this book extremely helpful. The vehicle is a 1986, z31, non-turbo. Between this particular Chiltons, the Haynes manual, and nicoclub forums, I was able to repair my combination signal switch and fix the jimmy-rigged wiring harness for my headlights. Then change out the clutch master cylinder and brake fuel line. Next project is going to be the suspension and brakes. The photographs in the book were good enough to tell what part you were supposed to adjust. They even had an exploded hand drawn picture next to the photograph so it was easy to tell what I was supposed to look at in the photo. This manual was more complete than the Haynes, imho, but both manuals complimented each other well enough to get the job done and I highly recommend getting them both but I feel I got more for my money with this Chiltons as it was about twice as thick.

This book helped me restore my 1972 240Z. Without it I would have been lost. What more can I say. It is a must have for Z car owners.
