Product Description

Amazon.com Review

Keep homemade gazpacho chilled or a café au lait steamy in this dual function food and beverage container from Thermos Nissan. The 16-ounce container operates as both a mug and jar and comes equipped with lids for either purpose. A roomy handle offers a comfortable, ergonomic grip, while a wide base provides container stability under unpredictable circumstances such as a bumpy car ride to work.

Constructed with durable stainless steel, the container is attractive, unbreakable, and stays cool on the outside. Patented, double-walled vacuum insulation keeps drinks and dishes warm for up to seven hours and cold for nine hours. A wide mouth lid equips the container for sipping, while another prevents food and drink leaks during transportation. A no-slip, scratch-free base further outfits the mug for travel. The container is dishwasher-safe and covered by a five-year warranty. The jar stands 6-1/2 inches high with a 4-inch base diameter, and weighs 1 pound and 4 ounces. --Jessica Reuling

3.0 out of 5 stars Screw lids are fine for food jar, but not for a coffee mug, January 1, 2006
By feldspar (Fredericksburg, VA USA) - See all my reviews
Although Thermos Nissan products are among the best vaccuum insulated containers on the market, this dual purpose jar falls short due to its attempt to be dual purpose. As a food jar it is great. But as a coffee/drink mug it becomes less useful on account of what makes it such a good food jar -- that is, the screw on top design. Remember, there are two tops that come with this jar, and both must be screwed on when used. That's fine for a food jar that you want to make sure your noodles and soup don't escape due to a pressure fit lid accident. But a screw top design for a coffee mug is inconvenient. In short, if you want a food jar this product will work great. But if you are primarily interested in a coffee/drink mug, a better product would be the Timolino 20 oz. @tanium II Travel Mug.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good if you use it right, May 10, 2007

You can't tighten the lid on this, you have to demonstrate some mechanical sympathy and turn it to the closed position. It's not really a screw thread, it's a bayonet fitting. So it only turns so far, like you gas cap but without the torque limiting thing. Treat it right and it seals correctly and works for years. I've been using the 20oz version for around 3 years and it still works perfectly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best mug ever for desk use, March 12, 2007
It takes a few attempts to master how to fasten the lid but once you find the position to put the lid in before fastening it, this is the best ever mug for use at your desk! I have been using one for several years and found that its the only one I see for sale that is thermos insulated AND has a larger base than top so that clumsy guys like me do not spill my cup over as often. All the others are narrow at the bottom to fit in auto cup holders. It also has non skip rubber bottom. And you can leave a hot cup of coffee alone for a couple HOURS and come back to find it nearly as hot as when you left it. The next time you knock over your coffee and ruin papers on your desk remember to buy one of these!
