Not even close to the right info for a 2000 Nissan MAxima, March 6, 2005
This review is from: Nissan Maxima 1993 thru 2001 (Haynes Automotive Repair Manual) (Paperback)
This book was purchased to diagnose and repair some problems I am having with my 2000 Nissan Maxima. The book did not have any wiring or electical diagrams for anything above a 1999 Maxima and the proceedure to diagnose computer fault information was not even close to correct.
It took me about 2 hours to remove the computer module only to find out that the switch that was suppose to be there according to the book did not exist.
Also, the book shows components that are not in my Maxima and my Maxima has components that are not in the book. I would not buy this book if you have a 2000 or 2001 Maxima!!!!

Ok, but consider the Nissan's Service Manual instead, October 20, 2005
This review is from: Nissan Maxima 1993 thru 2001 (Haynes Automotive Repair Manual) (Paperback)
I'm just starting to work on my 98 Maxima and this book is okay, but the $140 Service Manual I purchased from through the Nissan dealership's distributor is fantastic.
I was ready to work on my car and had read, and re-read, the Haynes manual on what I would need to do to replace the transmission fluid and transaxle filter. I also supplemented this study with several do-it-yourself web articles on the same topic.
However, on my big repair day, I couldn't figure out where to place the jack stands. Worse, I couldn't figure out where to learn how to place the jack stands. I thought this would be an easy internet search, but was unable to find one article anywhere the showed the proper placement of the hydraulic jack and jackstands.
I thought it was me, but then I asked several more accomplished amateur mechanics and none were able to provide a definitive answer on where the jack stands should be placed.
Enter the $140 Factory Service Manual at about 4 times the number of pages as this Haynes manual and complete with an amazing array of detailed diagrams of the Maxima; 3 pages of detailed diagrams concerning the proper lift points, jack stand placement, and jack stand accessories required to make for the safest lift. The $140 service manual is 5 stars and I'm sorry that I was unable to make the purchase through Amazon.
So, buy this cheaper Haynes manual if you want a lightweight summary or do not have $140 to spend on the factory service manual.

Not very detailed..., December 20, 2008
This review is from: Nissan Maxima 1993 thru 2001 (Haynes Automotive Repair Manual) (Paperback)
I bought this to find out about the warning lights my 2001 Maxima had for the catalytic converter (bought a code reader to find out what the "Service Engine light was trying to tell me) and ABS brakes (ABS light on dash). It did not have any real info about either problem... Not sure who this is really aimed at - certainly not the serious home mechanic... Only paid a couple of bucks (used) so worth a try...
