Product Description

Nissin cup o noodles shrimp comes in a 2.25 ounce pack. Just add a little hot water and go from hungry to happy in record time. It's the portable, hot meal that's ideal for camping, a quick lunch at your desk, or serving up as an easy after school snack. Nissin founder, Momofuku Ando, has always instilled a sense of commitment and quality in Nissin products. Today, Nissin's corporate philosophy inspires this same commitment to taste, convenience, and quality. Mr. Ando began the company as part of a humble family operation back in 1948 faced with sparse food sources after World War II; Mr. Ando realized that a quality, convenient ramen product would help to feed the masses. His goal was to create a satisfying ramen that could be eaten anywhere, anytime. In 1958, Nissin introduced "chicken ramen", the first instant ramen. Ironically, it was considered a luxury item, since Japanese grocery stores sold fresh Japanese noodles (Udon) at one sixth the cost of Mr. Ando's new food concept.

Nisson makes good noodles.

There are a few dried peas and carrots in the mixture, but it really wouldn't hurt to toss in some leftover vegetables if you have them handy.

These Cup Noodles are super easy to prepare and easy to eat out of the cup. I was drawn to this variety because of the shrimp, since I don't like chicken or beef noodles. However, they taste like chicken or beef or pork or a mixture of the above. I didn't taste shrimp at all. A dash of soy sauce helped the flavor.

The noodles stay firm long enough to eat them all, without getting mushy like some pasta products. There are a few dried peas and carrots in the mixture, but it really wouldn't hurt to toss in some leftover vegetables if you have them handy.

Overall, they are quick to prepare and very inexpensive, so you really can't go wrong with them.

As it turned out, they reason they tasted meatier to me is because they do contain chicken and pork. Hopefully this ingredient list will be useful to other shoppers.

After enjoying Nissan's Shrimp Cup Noodles for years, I found they were no longer available in any of our local supermarket chains: Albertsons, H-E-B, Kroger, Target, Wal-Mart, Whole Foods, plus the 'dollar store' family of shops. I asked several of store managers to do a search of their 'available products' and this revealed that the Cup Noodles were not in their inventory. So I turned to the Internet. Voila! Although I had to order 12 (no problem), and paid a little more that the price I remember (~39 cents each), it was well worth the extra cost. The Shrimp flavor is our favorite, and having them available on-line is well worth the extra cost. I will be back to order when our current 'stock' is depleted.

At the prices AMZ makes this available, it's a great way to make noodles without any cooking effort. BUT don't imagine you'll be able to taste the shrimp; there are only 2 or three about the size of a 3 in this type face. But you can add some bay shrimp, bought already cooked, when you add the boiling water and get a good meal, still under 3.5 ounces and a buck, plus some water; good diet item as well as a time saver.

Not as 'flavorful' as I remember. I had to add quite a bit of soy sauce. Otherwise, lots of noodles and good flavorful. After adding boiling water, I had to let it sit at least 15-minutes (not 5) as the noodles did not get soft enough within just 5-minutes. Vegetables taste 'real' and so do the shrimp.

I wonder what you could create if you added this to a soup or other more substantial noodle dish like authentic Pho or beef/chicken soup?

Yes these noodles are cheap, but they are perfect for the college student on the go. They are more of a snack than a meal, and if you treat it as such you will be decently satisfied. I prefer to cook mine with an egg and add in some green onions, to create more texture, but otherwise it is your run of the mill cup of noodles. Mine shipped quickly, and was delivered intact without any dents, so I was decently pleased with that.

Nisson makes good noodles. Me and my family like these better than Maruchan or Roman. the have the typical salty beef like flavor that doesn't taste like an imitation. I don't really care for shrimp but the seafood taste isn't overpowering so I enjoy these for a quick cheap lunch while I'm on the job.

these are a must if you're poor, chock full of salt and noodles, oh and I'm averaging a single shrimp in every cup, although they're kinda brown. What do you expect as I paid like 5 dollars for a dozen of these, yummy sodium.
