For starters, I have purchased 3 of these blinking LED lights from two different retailers before making this last purchase of 2 more from Amazon directly. They look awesome but the original 3 have problems staying on. I have tried numerous times to turn off the "Demo" mode with no luck. Also reset the batteries, changed the batteries, and called the manufacturer. Still having problems staying on. Sometimes they stay on for 5 seconds, other times 1 minute, 5 minutes, etc. It's not such a big deal if you are just walking your dog on a leash, but I use these lights on my dog for off-leash night fun and cannot afford to have a light just shut off randomly.

Update 1: Purchased 4 additional lights from Amazon and all are working with no problems. Go figure.
Update 2: Up to about 12 lights now. Half the units I have purchased have problems staying on. I am now testing the LRI Photon Freedom (covert and non-covert LED lights, which Amazon sells and have great reviews. Hopefully they will be much better since they are more expensive and have more lighting options.
Update 3: The following Amazon product works 5 times better - LRI FMW Photon Freedom LED Keychain Micro-Light - I recommend the Orange Beam, and Night Vision Green Beam for dogs with short to medium length hair.

First a social psychology anecdote related to my family's use of this product.

We started wearing these clip-on LED's (about the size of a quarter and 1/4-inch thick) for nighttime walks around our pitch-black neighborhood. We were the only moving, blinking clump of barely discernible people around. After about 2 weeks, probably because the safety value of these lights is a no-brainer, suddenly other clumps began appearing everywhere.

Even in foggy weather these small, light, cheaply powered lights are easily visible in both constant and blinking mode, and as such, the NiteIze LED light has tremendous value for keeping people and pets safe. Additionally, they are easy to use and fun, and come in at least three colors that I know of. At $5-$7 dollars each, they're a good investment if you enjoy walking around at night and don't want to worry about being hit by a car, as is the case where I live, in an unlit subdivision neighborhood in upstate New York.
These lights are little more than a bright LED "bulb," sitting on a hearing-aid-type battery, encased in rubberized plastic housing, where on side is a spring switch, the middle holds the battery, and the other side holds the bulb, but they do their job well. I'll explain in a minute why they merit only 4 stars.

Operation:
To turn them on to shine constantly, press hard once on the button. To have them blink, press down a second time. To shut them off, press down yet again.

Maintenance:
I've been using my light on and off in blinking mode for 1-2 hours at a time for about 4 months and have not yet had to change the small battery. The light uses little power. To change the battery, simply open up the sandwich-like cover, which is really two identical halves.

We are parents to three dogs, one of which is a very skittish puppy mill survivor. We decided it would be a wise move to attach these lights (which can be seen from either side) to their harnesses for our nightly walks. This way, should the skittish dog ever get off leash somehow, we'd be able to spot him from far away in the dark. I'm an over-planner, it's true. ;) It also lets folks with dogs who may fair better walking away from us, or joggers and cars, know where we are and that we're approaching with three pups in tow.

We purchased three colors, so each dog would be represented by a different color (red, green, blue). We walk about 45 minutes most nights, and these lights are vibrant and visible. They're also lightweight and easily clipped on - didn't seem the bother the dogs at all.

It's been a few months - the green is still glowing at full force, the red died out a bit ago, and the blue was the first to go. Granted, it just means we need a battery replacement - but felt it was worth noting! :)

I've had this product for over two years now, and I would recommend it to anyone who spends any amount of time walking their pet - or leaving them in the yard - at night. I originally bought it thinking I'd have a better chance to find my dog Buddy if the leash should break or I dropped it for some reason.

I've been told many times that people would see the light long before they could make out what it was attached to. :) (Buddy is a white mixed breed). It's a good feeling to know that drivers can see this light bopping along long before they see the dog it's attached to and the person walking him.

As others have mentioned, it does eat through the batteries pretty quick if you spend a couple hours a day in the dark (say, during a Minnesota winter when you're in the dark walking in the morning and evening), but it's just another worthwhile expense to chalk up to "pet ownership (partnership)".

Overall, I couldn't be happier with this product. It was just what I was looking for, and it works exactly like it's supposed to.

I bought these to help me see my two dachshunds at night when I go camping. Once night falls and we're just relaxing at the campsite, it can be so hard to keep track of them in the dark. I just got back from my first weekend of camping using these, and what a difference! I attached one to each collar, turned them on, and there was never any doubt where my dogs were, even in the pitch dark. With just a glance I knew exactly where they were at any moment as they walked around the campsite, when normally, they would be almost invisible to me in the dark. Even when they ventured a little off the campsite, I could see them easily in the woods or the tall grass around us. It also helped when I was walking them on their leashes at night. There was no worry of one of them crossing in front of me in the dark without me seeing (where I could trip over them), and these lights also allowed other people who were walking or riding bikes around us to see them easily in the dark, which is safer for everyone, including my dogs.

I bought four of these total, and all four work perfectly.

Pros:
- Very very bright. Easily seen even at a great distance.
- Easy to use. Just push to turn on, push again to make blink, and push again to turn off.
- They don't seem like they'd be damaged easily. They're made of a hard rubbery/plastic type material, and seem very sturdy.
- Since the button requires a bit of force to push, they can't be turned on/off accidentally (like by bumping against something, for example). Still, they don't require so much force that they're difficult to use.
- Small and very lightweight.
