I got this to go around my black lab's neck when we are walking at night. The important thing that I needed was something that lit up all the way around so I could see it from all angles, even when I am behind him. It also needed to sit sort of loosely so it would not get covered by his fur. I was using the cyalume necklaces that kids wear and that is absolutely perfect since it is bright and slightly rigid like a hoop so it stands out from his fur and is really bright all the way around, however, that could get expensive and is pretty wasteful so I hoped this would be perfect. When I first got it I was extremely disappointed that the LEDs are only located in the connector part and the light is supposed to be reflected through the tube from there. Unfortunately, although the actual light is very bright it only barely makes it to the other end of the tube so one end is very bright and the other end barely glows. I took it on a walk the other night and where we live it is so dark that you can actually still see the light at the other end but not as much as I would like. I guess it will work but I had hoped for better. I got the green one because that is generally brighter and easier to see than red so I really suspect the red one is not bright all the way around but have not seen it in person... If this holds up better than the lighted collars for dogs (which I have not had good luck with) I will consider this to be an adequate product!
