I bought this at my bike shop for 50 bucks, and it works okay. The rear taillight fell off tonight as i rode in the rain , at night, but it flashes, or runs a steady red light. The led works great, good focus and surrounding light helps light up around u alitte. NOT a primary light for night riding. I actually was able to fit the handlebar mount to my helmet, and that is how i use this light, mounted on my helmet to augmnet my 1000 lumen bike light. nice touch with with the side Red leds that flash.
It uses double AA, i plugged in rechargeables and that helps me out incase they are dead one day, i can swap out, and it seems water resistant, i rode in light rain for an hour and it lit up just fine. the flash is a pattern, and so is the taillight, its not just constant interval flashes which helps to grap attention. The quick release on the handlebar mount really helps to use this as a flashlight in the early morning rides.

I needed some simple lights for my bike that would both illuminate and protect me while I rode at night on my low-speed, folding bike. These two worked out perfectly. The Mako 1 watt shows the path in front of me, even in areas of the city without street lights. It can be set on blinky or solid modes. The blinky gives me a bit of a headache, but I could see that cars around me would HAVE to see me in this mode. However, I prefer the solid mode, because I can actually see the details of the road surface (objects, cracks, bumps, etc). I also very much enjoyed the ease with which I can put on and take off the light. It doesn't shake around at all when I ride over bumps. When I leave my bike it takes me about 3 seconds to pull it off and put it in my bag (so that nobody takes it).

The CherryBomb is VERY BRIGHT, and I appreciate that. I leave it on the almost police-car-like flashing mode that draws plenty of attention. I just directly clip it onto the rack in the back of my bike. I haven't used the under-seat mount because of the particulars of my folding bike (I constantly collapse the seat to it's fullest and it wouldn't work with the mount). The only drawback to clipping it onto my back rack is that it points a bit downward, which (I'm guessing) reduces the distance at which it can be viewed.

Overall, a really great set of lights for a good price!

I bought the Mako 1 watt headlight/Cherrybomb taillight combo set about 3 months ago. Headlight is very good for a modestly priced unit. Taillight mount is not well designed. Drooped during rides from day one. Now it is finished. I was riding downhill at about 25 MPH when I hit a bump (not an unusual one)and the CherryBomb mount snapped and the light flew off onto the pavement. The mount broke where it attaches to the case. I expect a blinkin' taillight to last more than 3 months (about 900 miles of riding). I will go back to my old CatEye 5 LED taillight. Not quite as bright, but far more durable and holds the desired position reliably. I will continue to use the Mako headlight.
