This charger is great it charges all of my rechargeable batteries even my AAs and my IMR 18650 batteries.

All charge well, though the spring is a little tight when getting the 18650 in place.

I have done extensive online research on batteries and chargers. I own and use at least a dozen different chargers for my multiple cameras and high-power flashlights.

I have about a half dozen tactical lights including the Fenix TK75 which throws out 2600 lumens and uses four 18650 cells. Using it as a searchlight while boating on the Chesapeake Bay can draw a lot of juice from the batteries, and I wanted the best batteries and charger I could find. After reading all the lab tests and field tests, I settled on this charger for all of my 18650 style batteries.

After researching the options, I invested in Orbtronics 3400 mAh batteries available here: 3400mAh 18650 PROTECTED Li-ion (Panasonic NCR18650B inside) Orbtronic Battery - Latest Model-Top Button Lab tests showed these to be among the strongest, longest-lasting, and safest batteries on the market. A few bucks more expensive than some, but to me, well worth the extra cost to help make sure my light works when I need it.

Once I made the investment in high-end lights and batteries, I started researching chargers. I have several 18650 battery chargers, including units from Fenix, Xtar, and BriteStrike. They all work well but are either 1-bay or 2-bay chargers. Some charge faster or slower, and some will not handle a few of the longest 18650 cells. I really wanted a four-bay charger, so I could pull all 4 batteries from my TK75 and know they were all charged together, at the same power levels, at the same time. Also, my 18650 chargers did not accommodate AA or AAA batteries, and vice-versa.

Don't let the title sway you much, the product is good. Version 1 was recalled due to faulty engineering and is no longer available, version 2 is the replacement model that addressed the engineering failures. Version 2 has a slower charging rate as a result.

The problem is that many vendors including the one that I purchased my i4 from updated the product picture and title, but not the description. As a result they are publishing version 1 specifications, and representing them as version 2 specs. May be an over site, and may be intentional.

You will notice (until someone who matters reads this and changes it) that they claim the charger's output current is 500mA x4 / 1000mA x 2, which unfortunately for me was the deciding factor in making my purchase.

Version 2 which is the only model available at this time and is what you will receive. But regardless of what the product page describes, Version 2 has a charging output of 375mA x4 / 750mA x2, imagine my surprise when I received a shiny new charger that is slower than the one I already had in 4 battery configuration, the only point that drove my decision to buy it in the first place was misrepresented. Only needing to charge IMR li-mn batteries, the V2 charging rate is much slower than the safe rate my batteries are capable of handling.

The charger itself receives 5 stars from me "for it's price range", it's not a slow charger, it's just not a fast one.

But this vendor and all others who are displaying out of date product specs for the i4 V2 get 0 stars for dropping the ball on proper product representation.

This charger handles two types of batteries:
- 1.2 to 1.5 volt NiMh or NiCd
- 3.7 to 4.2 volt lithium (LiOn)

As another reviewer has noted, this charger is not compatible with 3.0 volt LiOn cells.

I like this charger because it happily accepts a tremendous variety of cells. LiOn cells exist in a variety of sizes and this charger will take care of almost all of them.

It is important to buy the "version 2" of this product. Version 2 has more room for large cells, and it features improved control circuitry.

This charger is convenient. There is no wall wart power supply to clog up your power strip. The power cord is a standard item used by millions of notebook computers and other devices. Therefore, you can substitute another cable that is the exact length you need. It keeps your work area looking neat.

I am hot a battery expert, but I am concerned that this charger is a bit "fast" when used with NiMh cells. When I charged some Eneloop cells, they became slightly warm. They did charge quickly though! I am 100% satisfied with the way this charger takes care of my LiOn cells. I prefer my LaCrosse charger for NiMh cells.

The charger uses metal sliders backed up by springs. This arrangement is used to accomodate a variety of battery sizes. My only complaint: the sliders slide against plastic, and it is a sloppy design that tends to bind and resist your efforts. It doesn't cause any failures, but it feels cheap. I applied some light household lubricating oil and I feel better.
