Product Description

Surpasses any on the market in quality and performance, 100% Guaranteed!! This hub is the best of the best! The NitroAV Professional Grade 8-port 1394b (FireWire 800) hub/repeater, featuring Texas Instruments chips allows you to easily attach 7 devices, simultaneously, at up to 800 Megabits per Second(Mbps), for blazing fast transfer rates, and elimination of daisy chaining, plugging and unplugging devices. Simply attach a FireWire cable from your computer to the hub, and attach your devices. This FireWire 800 hub and repeater will conveniently draw power directly from a powered 1394 port, automatically, while also powering bus power capable devices that do not have their own power source. Its DC power input jack can also be used with the always included, 110/220V AC power adapter, when the 1394/FireWire connection does not provide DC power. Even if the FireWire bus is already powered, the DC power input jack of the hub/repeater can also be used simultaneously, to supplement power draw from devices. The FireWire bus voltage will adapt automatically when needed. But it's not just used in the studio, or on the desk or rack- It is also designed for use in custom implementations and has screw hole mounts in its robust metal chassis. This design also provides additional power source means, with a 4-pin 5v/12v connector.

Pros: solid construction, works great.

Once we cabled them one at a time straight to the computer, the problems went away.

For something like a hub, one can pay no greater compliment.

Built like a tank with plenty of ports. Handy screw slots for mounting out of the way. Runs great, no problems and delivered very quickly. Thanks

I bought this unit to allow me to use the 5 external hard drives that I need. I plugged it in and it all just worked. I didn't even plug the power in to it. The bus power works great. It's a really solid case. Great product.

I am a photographer using a Mac laptop and multiple hard drives. The new Macs only have one Firewire 800 port, making it difficult to have more than one external device attached at the same time. I had tried daisy chaining my hard drives through each other's multiple Firewire ports, but it was clunky. Now I have this 8 port hub attached to my wall directly above my hard drives, and all are visible and usable simultaneously.

I ordered the Nitro AV based upon the testimonials, but it was one of the poorest pieces of equipment I ever bought. I was using it with my 2012 iMAC. It stopped working after only a few weeks of use. I returned it to the manufacturer for repair. After it was returned to me it stopped working again within three weeks.
On my other iMacs I am using a Moshi and an 800 Unibrain ( I bought both bought from Amazon) and both have given me faithful service for well over a year so far without any problems. I wish I had not been taken in by the advertisement for the NitroAV. It was more expensive than the other two hubs and of very poor quality.

Obviously, we're on MACs here - but we went crazy trying to adhere to USB hubs and even was so stupid as to spend
money on the "best" USB hub advertised. FAIL.

This was the best (and maybe the only) firewire hub that I could find and it has been AMAZING. Bought two.

Go with God.

I bought a NitroAV 800 8 port hub a couple of months ago and it immediately killed the 800 port on a Lacie rugged 500gb drive. Sent it back and they sent me a replacement, plugged in 2 more Lacie's and it did the same thing! I think they just sent me back the damaged product I sent to them. I now have to use the damaged drives via the 400 or USB ports (lucky I had 3 port drives).

Stay away from this awful POS product. Worst piece of hardware I have ever wasted money on.

One star because Amazon won't let me choose 0.

I bought this item as I have 6 external drives for my Photography biz. It took about 3-4 days, and then I started having serious issues with my drives becoming unreadable. This thing literally scrambled ALL my external drives by week's end! Except for some redundant backups I have, I could easily have lost 50,000 or so photos. Needless to say this would have been a bloody disaster for me and my biz. I still do not know what happened, but it cost me 3 or 4 days of work reformatting, setting up the drives again, etc. As soon as I stopped using this hub, everything went back to normal and the drives are all running well again (daisy chained). Of course I sent it back for a refund, but I would like to know how this happened.Caveat Emptor!! your data is precious.
