5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful reflection of a great being's life., September 21, 1999
This review is from: Nityananda: In Divine Presence (Paperback)
This book is a must for anyone who follows the lives of great, enlightened beings. Bhagavan Nityananda was a great Siddha, or perfected master. He was a born Avatar or realized being from birth. He was endowed with the light of God. He was loved and respected by thousands of spiritual seekers who came to have his Darshan or simply put to be in his presence. This book examines his odd but thoroughly amazing ways through stories, examples and photographs. The photographs themselves are enough for the price of admission as he was not photographed very often. The power of his being is quite apparent through the many different images presented in this book. Bhagavan Nityananda bestowed his lineage to Swami Muktananda ( his name means: The Bliss of Freedom) who then brought the meditation revolution to the West in the early 70's. Swami Muktananda's successor, Swami Chidvilasanada ( whos name means; The Bliss of the Play of Consciousness) or Gurumayi as she is affectionaltely called is the present living master in this lineage. Both Swami's Muktananda and Chidvilasanda have both written extensively about meditation and the practices of Yoga in the most exceptional ways. If you find this book compelling I highly recommend that you follow up with one of Swami Muktananda's books such as "Play of Consciousness" or "Bhagavan Nityananda of Ganeshpuri"or Gurumayi's "My Lord Loves a Pure Heart." There is something very real and profound in these writings.
