One thing I didn't like about other sun kissed products was the smell that lingered on the skin after a couple of hours, not this product. This has a refreshing scent that lasts and your skin feels toned, moist but not greasy at all. Great product!

This past summer, I started using Banana Boat's self-tanner Banana Boat Summer Color Self-Tanning Lotion, Deep Dark Color, For All Skin Tones, 6-Ounce Tubes (Pack of 3), which is great, but which is also really dark for this time of year (fall going into winter). Based on the positive reviews, I decided to pick up this Nivea lotion, and I really like it so far!

Even though I'm ghostly white, I got the medium to dark color, and I'm glad I did since it's still a lighter, softer glow than regular self-tanners. I've been applying it right after I get out of the shower (after toweling off), and it doesn't burn my freshly-shaven legs or cause any stinging. As long as you rub it in in circular motions like you would a regular body lotion, it sinks right in and doesn't streak.

Over the course of a few days, you'll get a nice, glowing level of color, with no orange look.

As far as the smell goes, I like the scent, and it sinks in pretty quickly so that you won't smell it after about five minutes. I have caught faint whiffs of that tell-tale self-tanner scent coming off of my arms occasionally, but the self-tanner scent is much less strong than it has been for other tanners I've used in the past.

As it fades, it also doesn't leave your skin blotchy, which the Jergens and L'Oreal lotions seem to do on my skin.

I'm not sure if this has had any firming effect, but I like it so far and will definitely re-purchase it.

I love this product. As soon as I started using it, people starting noticing and thought that I was spending a lot of time out in the sun. It looks totally natural and goes on gradually. It can be used everyday and there's no blotchiness when it starts to come off. The only problem is finding it... it's always sold out. :)

Ok, I don't normally do reviews BUT this time I had to. If your looking for something totally natural looking this is it. SO, so much better than the fake tanners, this is really subtle. Definitely gives you a soft glow just like you have been in the sun a little. I'm not sure you could mess this up it's exactly like a lotion. This will be my go to even after I have a little color from swimming. Oh and the smell is nothing like a fake tanner. This isn't a smell I would choose at a store--but thank god it's not like most self-tanners. Great product it blows Jergen's away. LOVE!

I'm very pale and accidently bought the medium to dark lotion, but I've been using it every other day for 6 days and it works well. I look much tanner already, so I think I'm going to wait a few days so I don't look orange! I recommend this product, but if you're pale like I am I highly recommend using the one for light to medium skin!

I had been using Jergens self-tanner, but I wasn't happy with this product after the formulation was changed. I saw that Nivea was rated a winner in a review of self-tanners in a magazine (I believe it was Real Simple), so I decided to give it a try. I find this lotion to be a little on the thin side, with a scent that is slightly odd, although not overly unpleasant or long-lasting. Basically, the product does what it says: it produces a nice, natural-looking, gradual tanning effect. If I'm careful with the application, I have found that the color usually doesn't streak, but of course ANY self-tanner product is at risk to streak, and this one is no exception. In addition, even though I use the "Medium to Dark Skin" shade (I have a medium skin tone due to my Italian heritage) and I tend to use this product several days in a row, I never really get a dark color; the daily use seems to help maintain the color only. Finally, I would say that the "Firming" effects of this product are non-existent. Simply as a natural-looking self-tanner, however, it does at nice job, and I would recommend it.

I am medium toned, applied it up to twice a day for days and it did nothing for me. Now just using it for a bit of moisture on my feet and elbows but don't waste your money It's worthless!

I'm not 100% sold on the lotion. I don't think the firming aspect of the lotion really does anything, but the gradual tanning works well. Just as an FYI...you do have to rub the product in well, especially around your knees and elbows where it can cake up and look orangey. And do wash your hands afterwards so your cuticles don't build up an orangey look. Overall, the medium to dark tanning lotion works well for my medium skin tone and I can see a difference.

I've been using this nivea product for a bout a year now and I just love it! It doesn't leave any orange streaks or smells funny like many other sunless products. I highly recommend it.

I signed up for the Nivea lotion on subscribe and save. I love the program but they didn't offer the Jergens lotion that I liked so I thought I would go ahead and try the Nivea. It has the worst smell and I ended up throwing both the lotions away. I can order the Jergens outside of the program.
