5.0 out of 5 stars THE BEST MOVIE YOU'LL EVER READ, October 7, 2003
By
Daniel Dos Santos (Shelton, CT. United States) - See all my reviews
This book is a must own for any fan of Matsumoto. If you are unfamiliar with his work, this is a great place to start.Taiyo's work is not your typical big-eyed, blue-haired, sobby school-girl anime. Rather, it is contemplative and cinematic.Taiyo's books have always had that cinematic quality, but this book really shows what a great story teller he is.The pacing is thoughtful, the action is explosive, and the drawings are to die for! Don't let the scribbly, unrefined line work fool you. THIS MAN CAN DRAW!
Just buy it. Before you know it, you will be searching for every story he has ever done. I did.

This is an outstanding book. I think my favorite aspect has to be the art style. Often classified as surreal, it really pulls you deeply into the story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Comic, July 11, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I'll be honest, the only reason I picked this up was because Gerard Way had mentioned the book in an interview and it sounded interesting.

This comic blew me away, the art style is beautiful and the story is beyond well written. I recommend this comic to anyone looking for a great read!

5.0 out of 5 stars incredible artwork, March 24, 2010
This review is from: No. 5, Volume 2 (Paperback)
This is one of the best mangas I have ever seen. The artwork is incredible, very cool psychedelic imagery and a very cinematic feel. I recommend this to anyone who is into graphic novels.

5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE NUMBER 5, January 21, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: No. 5, Volume 2 (Paperback)

Its sad that this series didn't sell well and was put into publishing limbo with 5 or so other volumes finished in Japan. Maybe if GoGO Monster(his most recently translated work) is successful, Number 5 will be revisited. It's a dreamy, at times peaceful and introspective, at times hyper-violent work. Approached in an artistic and personal manner that few Mangas come anywhere close to. Matsumoto combines Euro/US and Japanese influences and his own unparalled ability to draw into hypermodern storytelling. Get visually dazzled, get physically inspired! march in the streets to get Number 5 back in print!I love this book! Sci-Fi Psychedelic ComiCS!
