On the Road to Freedom,
By "silkyreyna" (Sherman Oaks, Ca United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: No Attachments, No Aversions: The Autobiography of a Master (Paperback)
A little over a year ago, I read Lester's autobiography. As the Master Jesus said over 2000 years ago when speaking of miracles, "These things you can do also", Lester found the way to heal body, mind and spirit in our contemporary times. He tells of a practical method to achieve the same. This book has changed my life. I recommend Lester's story to people of all ages. My entire family, from ages 14 to 92, have learned what Lester learned and have many thanks to give. I have read many books in the self help field, both personally and academically. The difference between gathering data and theory is having the actual experience. Nothing compares to this. I have read Deepok Chopra, Marianne Williamson, Jean Houston, Sandra Ingerman and many theorists in psychology from Freud to Jung. The difference is simply this: Lester explains how he came upon a method of healing that came from the inside out and how in a very short time, he accomplished what everyone just tells us about, he totally healed his life on all levels. Lester paves the way to mastership for us all. It is not just another book to gather information. You'll have the road to freedom paved right before your eyes. 5 stars doesn't do it justice. 10 stars is more like it.

When the student is ready... the teacher appears.,

Not everyone will like this book. It is, in fact, short. Lester is not a particularly gifted writer. And his story starts slowly and wanders the first half of the book. With that said, it is also one of the most powerful and life changing books I've read. It's precisely because Lester's story is told so genuinely and honestly that I could relate to it so well. He was a typical compulsive, workaholic businessman who pushed himself relentlessly until he became a physical and emotional trainwreck by age 43- and found himself facing a premature death. With dogged determination, he decided to set his mind on nothing else but discovering the true meaning and essense of life. His findings/revelations produced such a profound sense of peace in himself that he lived another 40 years and touched a lot of people's lives. I think you would enjoy this book tremendously if your current belief system causes you angst (mine did) and you are searching for a new or better framework upon which to base your life.

Inner Peace and Love,
By
This review is from: No Attachments, No Aversions: The Autobiography of a Master (Paperback)
This book is Lester's recounting of his life before and after he managed to deftly slip into a flow of grace and ease. He tells the story of growing up and struggling in the early part of the 20th century, only to find, by his early forties, some measure external success but incredible inner unease and ill health, culminating in a near-fatal heart attack which was virtualy a death sentence... or at least it was a death sentence until Lester learned to start allowing Love and Grace into his heart, and to let go of trying to control life and himself. This book is his tale of that evolution and eventual break to freedom.I have read this book many times over, and often loan my copy to friends. I feel that this book is great, particularly Lester's recounting of his enlightenment experience and the effortless, easeful flow of his existence while in that state of simply allowing God/Being to handle what we call "Life". In my opinion, this narrative lends a great insight to the qualities or "frequencies" of being in that flux of love and grace, and also, by contrast, when describing some earlier parts of his life, a good sense of how it feels when not in that flow of grace. Bottom line: if you are at all a spiritual seeker, I suggest that you may wish to read this book; I can almost guarantee that there will be some great gems in it for you!

Wise Advice From Lester,
By
This review is from: No Attachments, No Aversions: The Autobiography of a Master (Paperback)
The reason there is so much suffering in the world is because of the wanting of something. That wanting has its roots in wanting to feel safe/secure, wanting control or wanting approval. It is only when you get rid of the wanting, that nagging, gnawing feeling inside that you can allow yourself to have whatever it is you want.Lester has discovered the shortcut to eliminate that feeling of lack to allow you to open up and receive what it is you desire. There is nothing wrong with having to have approval, control, or security, but it is the mere WANTING of these things that creates the attachments and aversions you have to whatever you are wanting.

This man found self-realization (enlightenment)with no teacher. He investigated his beliefs and feelings, releasing everything, until the last thing to go was the person who was doing the releasing. When Lester speaks you can tell he is the genuine article. I found this book very inspiring. By releasing all of his negative feelings he discovered profound bliss. Lester's pointers to the truth of who you are are original and profound.

I enjoyed reading this book and Lester Levenson's wisdom, but was disappointed by the very little amount of content I was offered for the price. I knew from the description that this book contained only 150 pages, but I didn't expect the text to be written so big! I am well aware that the quality is more important than the quantity but still, I would have expected more for the price.

Having spent the last 20 years of my life trying to improve the quality of my life, I came to understand that some techniques are more helpful than others. Several months ago, I came upon the work of Lester Levenson thru a syncronistic act. In the last few months, my life has opened up in ways I could not have imagined. I have a profound sense that this is just the beginning for me. I wish I could offer Lester my heartfelt thanks.Lester's work comes from the heart..and you get a real sense of the depth of genuine compassion this man had for himself and everyone he knew. Even though he has passed on many years, when you hear someone who knew him speak of him, it's not unusual to hear a voice crack with love and tenderness. In our society, we exalt actors and athletes....we revere the rich and famous...a man like Lester Levenson was a hero in his own right..worthy of respect and admiration. He probably would not have sought such things...but they are a natural result of a life lived to its grandest detail. Hats off to you, Lester...you made it!

NO ATTACHMENTS, NO AVERSIONS, THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF A MASTER is an inspiring look at what it is like for someone to truly let go of the grip of the ego and move into a place of peace, intunement and utter unconcern. With his life story, LesterLevenson burst myths of dis-ease and living through the lenses of lack. He shows what is possible and attainable for everyone by uncovering who we really are as joyous, unlimited and all-loving beings! This is a must read for anyone!

The honest words of a true master,
By
This review is from: No Attachments, No Aversions: The Autobiography of a Master (Paperback)
I think it's important to understand, this book wasn't written to be a book. It's the straightforward memoirs of a man who achieved a level of consciousness few people ever have or ever will (though the book demonstrates anyone can, if they are willing to let go of their limitations). What this book is, is the story of a common man who discovered within himself a power that exists within every person - even you. Pushed to the brink of physical and mental breakdown, Lester had nothing to lose. He'd already lost. And so he began letting everything go until he discovered the only thing left was a profound sense of peace, love and happiness. I have studied Lester's work for several years. This coming after years of trying various other self-help programs and trainings. This is beyond anything else I've ever experienced. It's profound. For anyone who is challenged by the idea that they have the power to manifest, or create their life through their thoughts and feelings you will not find value here. For anyone who is open and willing to allow self-imposed limitations to drop (and has even experienced this power them self), you will enjoy the deep wisdom Lester has tapped into and shares in this book. You will be inspired by the possibilities of your beingness. And you will be inspired by Lester sharing his roots and the process he went through on the path to enlightenment.

You can be the master of your own happiness,
This review is from: No Attachments, No Aversions: The Autobiography of a Master (Paperback)
Egos write books so if the style of this book is conversational, that is no accident. Lester's words are mostly taken from lectures as is the case with the other masters. Did Jesus write the bible? No. He taught truth. What you will learn from Lester's auto-biography is not how to do exactly what Lester did, because that is the subject of the Release Technique® CD Course. Lester believed that you had to experience the technique and should not learn it on an intellectual level. So please take the course if you want to DO what Lester did in just 3 months; he became completely self-realized and claimed that anyone could do it, if he could.
What the book does is lay out the evidence that you can turn around a life that is pretty much as bad as or worse than yours, and his was worse than most of our lives, since he was handed a death sentence at the age of 42. He was told to go home, because his heart was going to kill him, and in 1952, there was no hope for him. Given that bleak picture, Lester, as a scientist and engineer, started over from scratch. In fact, he started by realizing that ALL the books he had read to that point in his life had mislead him. He had no real happiness, despite being one of the most learned beings on the planet. He had studied physics, mathematics, engineering, medicine, psychology, and economics. The thing he had avoided was knowing what he was. He had avoided his feelings and suppressed them to a point that he almost killed himself. What Lester was forced to come up with out of necessity was an approach that extended his life for another 42 years, namely, the Release Technique®. If you read his autobiography and are inspired, do yourself a favor and learn the technique. Lester did the job in 3 months. Even if it takes you a few more months, consider how long you have been moving in the wrong direction to this point! Don't waste any more time with excuses. Decide to do it now. If you truly DO IT rather than TALKING AND READING about changing and improving yourself, you will end up completing the same job Lester finished and release ALL of your negativity, ALL of your non-love feelings. Release, be what you truly are, and you will heal your finances, your relationships, and your body. |
