A truly practical book for people of consequence,
By J.P.S. (Perth, Western Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: No B.S. Time Management for Entrepreneurs (Paperback)
Having just read Dan Kennedy's time management book, I am more thrilled than ever that I was introduced to Mr Kennedy's books and courses some 18 months ago! I believe the principles in this book to be not only "priceless," (which is perhaps contradictory to the subject of the 1st chapter), but it's also the CORNERSTONE of his entire business success and philosophy.
The book is *that* important! Many folks would rather try Dan's other books and courses first... after all, the subject of this book doesn't sound as 'sexy' as many of Dan's other products. But close reading will reveal just how *little* you'll really understand in all his other courses until you truly "get" the principles of this book. A warning, however: if you're easily offended at being called to account for your own level of success, AVOID this book. You'll just become depressed at how little you *really* want out of life... "winners" only, please! But for the right reader, this book can be the 5:00am firecracker that makes you sit bolt upright in bed, in a cold sweat, *determined* to take full charge of your life! I'd give it 6 out of 5 if I could... it's that powerful!

I think Kennedy has really done a disservice to the book with his title.,
This review is from: No B.S. Time Management for Entrepreneurs (Paperback)
What I mean by that statement is the book is an excellent time management tome for all not just entrepreneurs.
Certainly, it is written from the perspective of and towards entrepreneurs. There is no reason I see though why people from all walks of life with all different types of careers can't incorporate and use his suggestions. Currently, I am an aspiring entrepreneur with a day job and while I think the books suggestions regarding topics like how you should value your time have been helpful the most immediate practical use I've found for the suggestions in the book are in regards to how I structure my work day so I have more free time to pursue entrepreneurial objectives. Highly Recommended.

We Made This Book Required Reading for All our Staff,
By
This review is from: No B.S. Time Management for Entrepreneurs (Paperback)
Reading pages 3-10 of this book will change your life if you have the guts to carry out the exercise Dan Kennedy recomends to get to your "number."
I bought the book for my entire staff of lawyers. We read it and discussed it. We immediately implemented several changes to our "systems" which resulted in higher client satisfaction and a more productive day for all of us. We figured we made "thousands of dollars" in the first few weeks of employing some of Kennedy's very specific techniques. I highly recomend that any business owner buy a copy, not just for himself or herself, but for the whole staff. It doesn't do any good if only one person understands and "gets" what Kennedy is teaching. We also bought his new "Business Success Book" and eagerly look forward to the "Sales" book due out shortly.

In this book, Mr. Kennedy makes a number of points that if adhered to, will serve to increase one's wealth and one's satisfaction with life.
For example, he shows how to get a measure of what your time is really worth (and it's not the standard desired $$ divided by (52 weeks times 40 hours)). This is an important number to get because once you understand the value of your time, the ability to make decisions and to recognize time wasters becomes much easier. As another example, he makes the point that ideally, work time is devoted toward creating wealth and that time wasters (people, telephone, email, etc) interruptions, and distractions directly inhibit or even destroy one's ability to create wealth. He then provides a variety of practical and effective means to protect one's self from these time wasters and interruptions. Throughout the book, Mr. Kennedy reveals his own regimented and disciplined action towards achieving that which is most important to him. Readers will likely find this insight helpful. Also, there is marketing and sales wisdom scattered throughout the book that will prove interesting and useful to those in business. I particularly liked the phrase, "objective orientation versus activity orientation". I have personally found that successful people always orient their time and actions around objectives that are meaningful, valuable, worthwhile, and important. Everyone else spends their time on tasks and activities that are nothing more than reactions to whatever is thrown their way. The one big omission that I did see in this book was that Mr. Kennedy did not talk about one of the greatest time savers / maximizers of all - systems. All in all though, this book will certainly provide insight into how to use one's time more effectively. At the same time, you actually already know inside of yourself what those important, worthwhile, and valuable things are that you should be doing. The question is whether or not you have the control and discipline of your self to do what's most important which in turn will project to others that you only do what's most important - causing them to respect you and your time. Or, will you spend your minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, and years on low-level, entry-level, beginner-level, $7 an hour tasks and activities? If this is how you choose to use your time, someone else will do the $100, $500, $1,000 per hour tasks and reap the big money and rewards. It's your choice. No book can help you with self-control and self-discipline. You've got to help yourself.

A Kick Butt Guide to Time Mangement,
By
This review is from: No B.S. Time Management for Entrepreneurs (Paperback)
This book exists in its own category. While a typical time management book will implore you to develop sophisticated "to do" lists and to organize and save time by getting rid of magazine subscriptions that you don't need, this book is the nuts and bolts guide to real time management from a person that knows what being busy is all about.
Save your money on all of the other time management BS books out there and buy this one. This book has real world solutions to everyday challenges. Dan Kennedy tells it like it is in this book. The information inside is priceless.

Of all the No B.S. books, this one is the best of the bunch. True to its title "No BS", Dan gives real-world, down to earth tips on managing time effectively. Forget about fancy, nonsense small talk, this one contains brutally honest, harshly simple pointers that makes this book a classic. In fact, I read this book at least three times and found it valuable every time.
FYI, Dan's books and style is not for the timid person who's looking for affirmation. This is no "feel good" book, it's a blast of ice-cold reality every serious or semi-serious entrepreneur needs.

The "Backbone" Implant Every Entrepreneur Must Read...,
By RD Skinner (Albuquerque, NM USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: No B.S. Time Management for Entrepreneurs: The Ultimate, No Holds Barred, Kick Butt, Take No Prisoners, Guide to Time, Productivity, and Sanity (Self-Counsel Business Series) (Paperback)
This is by far the best "hands on" tools book I've read in time management. Most time management books give you guidelines, rules, and tools that you never use-- relying on a detailed multi-level guideline-- and I'm just not wired that way. As a result of the many years of reading these books I lowered my confidence in believing I was not a functional business person. This book, however, shows you how-- precisely-- we rob ourselves of time-- our most valuable asset. To waste time is the waste life and Dan Kennedy hones in on all the ways we waste life through choosing "time vampires" that drink the life right out of us. A HUGE eye-opener for anyone serious about transforming their life through the value of time, energy, and PROFIT. Before reading this book I felt I had a "high regard" for my time, but found more than 10 crucial points that made me clearly see and realize how much time, energy and money I wasted. Now I'm able to know in the first contact, situation, or new business relationship whether or not it's worth the "time" investment. This book made me really look at myself and all the "time management mistakes" I made-- not easy to do, but if you're serious about taking self responsibility and becoming a self-actualizing success, this is A MUST READ!

This book is worth its weight in gold to the serious entrepreneur that wants to be much more effective, and have a great life at the same time. Effectiveness is not just about working faster but about working smarter and on the right things. Dan brings his unique and enjoyable style to this sometimes boring topic. I consider time management to really be "Life" Management and Dan is a master of this topic.
Time is the one thing we all get the same amount of-- millionaire or minimum,- wager; let this book help you lead a better and more fulfilling life. You can't help but get at least one great idea from this updated book.

Thought-provoking book,

After reading this book I took a look at how I managed my time (horribly!) and made some big changes -- inspired by this book. I'm happier and more productive and I think my clients dig my new style. Still, truth be told, some of the tips and work style techniques shared in this book just aren't practical. However, the concepts behind the tips are sound and can be easily adapted. For example, I have used the spirit and rationale behind Dan's fax technique (not practical for me) to make email communications less frequent and more succinct, using recaps via email in bullet style, inviting replies.

It's "back to basics" on how Dan Kennedy finds the time to run his highly successful consulting/writing/speaking business. This is probably the tenth time management book I've read and I took away a few good ideas. Dan would certainly say I am wasting time writing this review on a time management book. I guess the reason I'm giving it four stars is that he does not discuss the time management techniques that he uses to make his family/personal life successful.
