This book typifies the saying "the best teachers are those who show you where to look, but don't tell you what to see." In every way, the author is an incredible teacher--an absolute necessity for parenthood--guiding her children through the ways of the world and the fun and the not so fun, yet still adventurous, times; all the while, smothering her children with love through hugs, kisses, and discipline. Bravo!

I finished reading No Brats Allowed! in one day. Talk about a page-turner! The book touched my heart and soul. This book is filled with the author's joy and life experiences in raising a family in this age. Detail to the memories that the author's family has shared in such down-to-earth stories will touch the hearts and enlighten all who read No Brats Allowed! This delightful book should be a textbook for all new mothers. No Brats Allowed! captures the essence of a practical and spiritual way to raise one's children so that they can happily, with confidence, navigate their way through today's challenging society. This is so needed today. I strongly recommend No Brats Allowed! for mothers who would like to experience the joys and happiness of raising their children without the downers of today's society.

This book is a must read. Not only for new parents / wanna be parents / or those of us that have raised our children. Inge is a straight shooter. I am now on my second read through just in case I missed something.
Thank you Inge for writing this amazing book!

This book is from the heart and easy to read, so even though it's the furthest thing from a textbook, it should be a prerequisite for parents. Inge's greatest strength is that she shows step by step how to cultivate empathy for children in a way that gives them the best start they could possibly have. By creating a genuine bond of mutual respect and love, parents truly can raise thoughtful children with their own inner compass. Case in point: one of my favorite parts is Inge's inclusion of comments from her children and husband at the end of each section. This really takes the teamwork of family to the next level, in a very effective way for the reader. Bravo to Inge for making the world a better place through her wonderful contribution to the field of parental advice.

First, let me say that there is no way that I can write an objective review. I know the author and her husband ... and I have no kids! Still, this is a book I can recommend to every parent and parent-to-be. I thought one of the best aspects was that the author included generous input from dad and kids - so the reader is getting several sides of the stories - very smart, Inge! Practical, good ideas, a personal and friendly style ... very nice work!

I loved this book ....life experiences raising three children. Truly a page turner I read it in one day and had many moments of laughter. I enjoyed that the entire family played a role in writing their perspective on each situation. Each child has their own personality and it definitely showed through.

Dr Phil and Oprah Winfrey need to have her on there show and help all the new parents have a wonderful guide to parenting. I am tired of hearing no one gave us a manual of how to raise children well guess what? Now you do, follow the advice of someone who walked in your shoes. No more excuses... this book covers physical, mental and spiritual guidance. The world would be a better place if some of these suggestions where taken to heart. Truly a gem!!!

I read this book from cover to cover. It is so honestly written. I couldn't put it down. I immersed myself in a full day of reading, learning, laughing and crying over several cups of tea.

It's funny: my children kept looking over at me while I was reading. "No brats allowed!?" my youngest finally asked. "Do you think that we're brats?" Ha. ha. "Nooooo..." I replied. "Have you seen other children who act like brats, though?" "YES!" "Well, this mom feels bad when she sees that, so she wrote a book." "Oh, okay...." So.. be prepared for that reaction! (big smile)

This book is about how to parent the SOUL of your child--at each stage.
When Inge Paolini started her journey, she threw out all the rule books! She looked into her children's eyes and parented them based on her connection with them. I so admire that.

This is what I learned from this book:

(1) Create healthy boundaries for yourself, your marriage, and your children.
(2) Set up rules for your family, including kind courteous conduct, and then fiercely and lovingly enforce them. ("Fierce and loving" is Inga's HIGH OCTANE version of Positive Discipline's "kind and firm" approach. It's both funny and educational.)
(3) Maintain your position of authority. (Having loving authority, and wielding it responsibly, is a lost art. The book has many really good examples.)
(4) At the same time, be flexible: Listen. Teach. Explain.
(5) Encourage your children to respect their own intuitive feelings about people and places.
(6) Terrible things can happen in life--respond swiftly, calmly, fiercely, lovingly and ultimately with forgiveness.
