No Braver Man: The story of Fritz Rohm, Bugler, 16th Cav.,
By J. Stephen Reid (Seattle, WA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: No Braver Man: The Story of Fritz Rohm, Bugler, 16th PA Cav. (Paperback)
This is a very realistic account of the Civil War from the standpoint of a common Union soldier. I learned a lot about the reality of the war from this book. In particular, the annual journey home for the winter, followed by the return to battle for the spring and summer was a revelation. The characters were real, if not spectacular, as was likely the case. Bill Rohm is a friend, and I am proud of his accomplishment in completing this small treasure. Every schoolchild should read this book to have a better understanding of that time in our history.J, Stephen Reid |
