I picked up the trilogy of timeliner books recently and have read the first two straight through. The mercenary Eric who acts as the main focal point of the books moves through different parallel universes created by probability of events happening in different fashions so there is a reality where the American and French revolutions failed which is where we start and where Alexander created a longlived empire and the Roman empire failed to get off the ground. There are so many types in which Eric travels which get increasingly less familiar. The overall impact is dazzling and the twists and turns leave the reader's head spinning

First read the time liner trio in the mid 80's. The idea of slowing down time matrix style during battles And how everyone tried to use the main character to turn the tide in their favor. And how about the idea of creating your own worst enemy. When he becomes powerful enough to travel back in time to kill the evil 3 sisters, he discovers 4 sisters instead? He says oh well and tries to kill them all anyway. He only is able to kill one and alerts the sisters to his future presence and starts the never ending circular series of events that create the 3 evil sisters to begin with. Ground breaking time-loop story. Also reminds me of the genie blue rose story cause the main character is able to copy himself 300 times and his consciousness grows exponentially and he achieves godlike stat is before most of them are killed and he returns to normal
