A Key Part of Any Fire Protection Plan
Interior furnishings are the number one contributing factor to the swift spread of fire and smoke within a home. They also contribute to the phenomenon known as "flashover," in which the air within a structure becomes superheated, causing everything within the vicinity of the fire to explode into flames. Flashover is not survivable by occupants, and is dangerous to even protected firefighters. Any fire safety plan should therefore include protection of your interior furnishings from the spread of flames.

Helps Prevent Fires from Starting and Spreading
Independently tested to quality control and efficacy standards developed by the NFPA (National Fire Protection Agency) and the ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials), Fabric Fire Gard is a liquid fire retardant coating that has met the approval of the California State Fire Marshal's Office under Registration C-215.01.

Once sprayed on either natural or synthetic fibers, Fabric Fire Gard can slow down a fire's progress. In many cases it will not allow the interior furnishings to ignite at all, thereby significantly reducing the spread of an existing fire. Use it on curtains and draperies, fabrics, crafts, non-leather natural and synthetic upholstery, theatrical curtains, stuffed toys, potholders, decorative pillows, and more.

Safe and Effective
Fabric Fire Gard is very easy to use and can be quickly applied by following the directions on the bottle. Safe to use around children and pets, it's also , completely non-toxic, non-carcinogenic, has zero volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and will generally not alter the look or feel of the fabric on which it's applied.

What's in the Box
One 32-ounce spray bottle of No-Burn Fabric Fire Gard (enough product to cover approximately 75 square feet of surface area).

We bought this spray to treat our hearth rug in front of our wood burning fireplace. It works really well. We've watched as large hot embers jumped through the screen only to go out as soon as landing on the treated rug. Before we had treated the rug, excaped hot embers would smolder and leave small burn marks on the rug. We feel much safer with this treatment on both the hearthrug and the surrounding areas.

The only concern that we had was that the liquid was noted as "clear", but when we received it, the liquid was brown. We read the bottle to find that the liquid should be kept between 40 - 90 degrees F. Since we ordered it over the winter, the box had been sitting out in weather well under 40 degrees. We called the customer support number listed on the bottle and spoke with a very helpful woman who assured us that the liquid was still OK to use and would not color or stain our light colored carpet. The product's color changes if the bottle is exposed to light for too long (perhaps as in a well lit warehouse?), but it would still apply clear and work every bit as well. The tempature is only an issue if the product is exposed for a long period of time and freezes. After trying it on a hidden area of the carpet we found that the rep was correct. We applied it without any problems and it works great. We plan to keep using this product.

I purchased this product when constructing homemade acoustic absorption "panels" using jute and burlap coffee bean bags filled with a sound absorption mat. As a rough test of its ability, I attempted to ignite one of the bags with a directed flame source for about 10 seconds, without success. This product has definitely eased my concerns about using jute "art" panels in my home studio.

I am a teacher and my classroom has a large window. We have certain requirements and procedures for "lockdown" drills in our school. We have to cover the window during the drill to prevent anyone from seeing inside the classroom in the event that a person/persons meaning harm is looking for a full classroom. I made some curtains for the window and due to fire prevention regulations, the fabric must be fire retardant. I looked for fabric that was already fire retardant but, all I could find in my local store was very juvenile. I teach at a middle school. The fire marshall said a fire retardant can be applied to the curtains and that would be in compliance to policies. I looked at my local home centers and discount stores and found no product available. I looked on amazon and found this product. It was easy to apply to my curtains. Did not change the appearance of them in any way. However, when you apply the spray, do it where the spray will not get on anything you do not want the spray on. I laid my curtains across a couple of classroom desks and the spray got on the desks and left a white residue. It was easy to get off with a regular household cleaner. Good product that fulfilled my needs.

This was actually purchased for a science fair project for my son. The project I wanted him to do would have been almost free, so he went with the one that cost me $100 all-in. But I digress.

We sprayed this product, and another called Firetect, onto cotton and polyester. Even without the products the polyester never burned - it just melted. Who knew? With the products it wouldn't even do that, and we tried.

Without the fire retardants the cotton burned quite a bit, actually had flames. Both products we sprayed worked well; they both stopped the flames. The No-Burn allowed a small hole, while the Firetect barely allowed a scorch on the fabric. The Firetect was better, but No-Burn is a good product.

This spray is amazing, I heat my house with wood and the wood burner is in my living room. I am alwas worried about fires, so after a little research i bought this product. I tested it on cotton (socks), polyester (chunk of table cloth), and a paper towel (just curious). NONE caught on fire with a direct flame from a propane torch, the sock and paper towel blakened but never caught on fire and the table cloth just melted but never caught fire. To top it off the table cloth was a clean white and the spray did not leave any stains. Another great thing about this product is that it has almost no odor (very little but goes away when dries). I plan to spray every thing that is fabric im my living room (drapes, furniture, ect...) All i have to say is that I know this works and this product coud prevent thousands of houses from burning down every year, not including the lives taken from these fires.

My husband is a cutter in a scrap yard and his clothes get burnt up a lot. He sprayed this on the sleeves of his jacket and noticed that the sparks would just roll off his clothes instead of burning them. Very good.

We bought this for a science fair experiment. Don't expect much on synthetics, but it worked great on cotton. If you put a match to thin cotton, it will go up in flames. Having used this stuff, we couldn't get it to catch fire, not with matches, not with a propane torch. Other fabrics, it added a second or two to the time it took them to begin burning or melting.
