About the Author

Born in a tiny, isolated village on the island of Haiti, Rene was an impoverished child tormented by extended illness and diseases. Abandoned by his father and left behind while his mother sought work in the city, he survived on breadfruit and the occasional fish he caught with a string and hook. In 1983, at the age of 21, Rene came to Montreal, Canada with a Haitian theater company. Within two months of his arrival, he escaped into the United States by wedging his body between the rear tires of a tractor-trailer. He arrived in New York with five dollars, two shirts, one pair of pants, and no ability to speak English. Rene quickly employed his keen survival instincts in pursuit of his ambitions. He taught himself English, read voraciously and exploited every window of opportunity. Today, he is one of America’s most inspiring speakers. Rene recently appeared on CBS's 60 Minutes, in a segment that featured Zig Ziglar, and Colin Powell. As a proud American citizen, Rene reminds his audiences to be grateful for the privilege of living in such a bountiful country where success is a matter of choice, and no condition is ever permanent!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good book, April 20, 2004

I could not put it down. It was inspiring to the point of... oh my gosh, pushing me out of my funk and on a track of action. Rene lives his book, and has become a "village hero" back in his village in Haiti. Take action, believe in your self, yes we have heard it before, but Rene will ... incite ... you to action. Good job, thanx Rene!!

This book is absolutely awesome. Upon recieving this book, I immediately started to read through the pages and visualized the current goal struggles going on in my life. I'm currently pursueing a personal goal where "rattle snakes" tried to steal my dream. This book has given my inner existence a renewed spirit towards my goal. Rene's strategies are obtainable and realistic to the everyday person. I have shared my experience from reading this dynamic book with family, friends & co-workers. What can you not like about this book just look how powerful the title catches your attention. "No Condition Is Permanent" because it's NOT!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the few truly motivational books, March 30, 2003
This review is from: No Condition Is Permanent! (Hardcover)
One of the best motivational books of the year "No Condition is Permanent" is the story of the rise of Rene Godefroy from the slums of Haiti to become a successful motivational speaker and CEO of Village Hero, Inc. The premise of the book is that there is no condition that cannot be changed if you really want to change it. The book provides a process for handling the excuses and stumbling blocks that keep you from achieving your goals. It also provides the encouragement to keep you moving along your path. This is a highly recommended motivational book.
