Okay book, if you do not have an extremely stubborn child,
By

I really liked the take of this book....be calm, let the child lead, be calm, the child will not be ready until he/she is ready, be calm. Did I mention that a ton of this book is based on you? Like I said I did like the book, it was easy to read and made sense...EXCEPT if you have a totally stubborn child who absolutely refuses to go on the potty. There is no practicals on how to deal with problems like this. What do you do when your child is ready, but can not be bothered to stop playing? I think the book can be improved greatly by some practical answers other than maybe your child is not ready.

Excellent Book For The Mom & Dad Potty Trainers,

This review is from: The No-Cry Potty Training Solution: Gentle Ways to Help Your Child Say Good-Bye to Diapers (Pantley) (Paperback)
The No-Cry Potty Training Solution book is just amazing!! If you are a parent who is starting the process of potty training, OR going to be starting the potty training in the future, you will NEED this book. I have read a couple of books about potty training, that had some ideas here and there, but this book has ALL of the ideas and assistance in one very easy to understand book. During my potty training of my daughter, I had some stress and no patience. After reading this book I realized that I needed to control my patience, and once I did and had the correct tools it did not take long at all for my daughter to succeed, and with few accidents. Elizabeth Pantley gives you creative ideas to help along the potty process, my favorite (and my daughters) was a box of wrapped little presents (i.e., play dough, crayons, coloring book) and whenever my daughter used the potty she got a gift. She loved that positive reinforcement!! Another great thing in the book is a quiz about Potty Readiness that you can take from the beginning to see where your child is on the potty training. From a mother of 2 with 1 successful potty trained daughter, and a son who will be starting within the next year, I highly recommend The No-Cry Potty Solution book from Elizabeth Pantley to all the moms and dads who are getting ready to start the potty training and even for the expecting moms to have something GOOD to look forward too. Wordy without substance,

This book was mostly fluff. All of the information in 168 pages could have been contained in a short pamphlet or booklet, at the least. She explains her basic premises in the first few pages, then goes on to explain more about them in the rest of the book. During the explanation, she repeats exactly what she had already said, then gives a bit more detail.
The book is based on her experience as a parent. She gives a couple of feel-good options, then just explains that every child is different and you should do what works for you. This book does not offer a plan, nor does is give many facts. It is completely based on the opinion of the author and does not include any research to back up her opinions. I found myself continually asking "why?" to things that she says, and not receiving an answer. Most of what was in this book is easily found on the internet with a simple Google search. The one thing that I will take from the book is a reminder that potty-training takes time, like everything else children learn. One thing I liked about the book was that it had pictures of children using the potty that I could show my daughter. I wish, though, that she had not included the picture of the boy unraveling all the toilet paper, or the girl with the potty seat on her head! [...]

I bought this book just as i was starting to potty train my 2 1/2 year old son. I loved this book and the great advise. I think the kind and gentle ways to approach potty training helped keep stress levels at a minimum and reminded me that I should enjoy this process too.
My son loved all the pictures of the kids going potty and it helped him see that lots of other kids his age were doing this too. He is an only child so this was very helpful for us. We are now 2 weeks into potty training and my son has had 2 accidnets and is completely diaper free... even at night.

Good book, but could be better,
This review is from: The No-Cry Potty Training Solution: Gentle Ways to Help Your Child Say Good-Bye to Diapers (Pantley) (Paperback)
The best thing about this book is the "readiness checklist" that provides very helpful guidance on whether your child is ready for potty training. It also gives some helpful suggestions on necessary supplies, encouraging the child to get started, etc. But what I most needed, and felt it didn't give me, was help on how to make my daughter focus on the task at hand. I would recommend it, but wonder if there might be a better guide.

Everything you've always wanted to know about Potty Training!,

I've had years of experience working with young children and seeing the frustration they and their parents went though during the potty-training phase. When it was time to potty train my son, I was understandably nervous. Elizabeth Pantley's book simplified things in such a way that I knew right away what methods I felt would work for my son and for me and he was potty-trained within a week by 2.5 years old. There was absolutely no fuss, no crying, no stress and he enjoyed it as much as I did. I have encouraged all my friends to use the book and thus far, none of the 30 families that followed her methods had any difficulty with the process. I believe that all children will eventually be potty-trained but the book ensures that it will be a smooth and easy transition from diapers to underwear! I feel that anyone who has difficulty taking the information and applying it to their situation is just looking for an easy fix and these methods do take time and effort but so does all good parenting! I rarely review books and will only do so if I feel that it is a true treasure that needs to be shared with other parents and this book is one of them! I always give a copy to friends when their child is close to the age of showing readiness. Elizabeth Pantley is a genius in that she takes her personal experience and years of research as well as the personal experiences of others and puts it all together in a hands-on, user-friendly book that anyone can use and be successful with as long as they are willing to apply the information! This book, along with her other books, are a requirement for every home library!

Every parent of a toddler needs this book.,
This review is from: The No-Cry Potty Training Solution: Gentle Ways to Help Your Child Say Good-Bye to Diapers (Pantley) (Paperback)
This book worked for us. I love the quiz to assess where we are in being ready to potty train. It got me to look at some of my son's developmental stages in a whole new light. Over time we followed some of Elizabeth Pantley's suggestions as we moved towards complete potty training. When my son was ready, he moved to dry underwear in a couple of weeks. Without the patience gained from this book, we would have struggled with potty training for months or years. It's great to have a book that validated us a parents and validated our child as a complex human being.

I bought this book about 2 weeks ago because I was becoming extremely frustrated with potty training. After desperately combing through the various chapters for ideas on what to do, I immediately went out and bought stickers to use on our new "Potty training calendar," as suggested by Pantley. I also changed my whole outlook and attitude toward the process and I've seen immediate results. I feel less stressed and my son has benefited from this change. It's amazing!! As early as the next day, my son, as well as myself and my husband were more enthusiatic about each potty experience and the stickers worked wonders. I wish I would have bought this book sooner. I highly recommend this book for parents to use in the early stages of potty training. I shared an idea from the book with my boss last week and she came back to me this morning amazed that it worked.

I had no clue on when or how to start potty training my children. This book showed me good signs on how to know my child is ready and has some great ideas on how to pre-potty train.

Best Potty Training Book Out There,

This review is from: The No-Cry Potty Training Solution: Gentle Ways to Help Your Child Say Good-Bye to Diapers (Pantley) (Paperback)
Elizabeth Pantley's No Cry Potty Training Solution is one amazing book. She knows exactly what a parent needs to succeed in teaching their toddler to use the potty. I have twin boys and I never thought I would be able to get them to stop peeing on the floor and into a potty. Elizabeth's book helped me do that. The one thing that I like best about the book is that Elizabeth has real families telling their potty problems. Wow!!! I'm not alone, real people, real problems but with Elizabeth's help, a real solution. That is what I love about the No Cry Potty Training Solution. It is easy to follow and the quick reference guides are wonderful. Most importantly, Elizabeth eloquently describes that you don't have to follow a set standard on how or when you should potty train. She simply states that it is ok to follow your child's cues and do what works best for you and your family. Only you know your child best. I however, think that Elizabeth knows every child best. I recommend that if you are even thinking about potty training...look no further, run out and get this book right away. I promise you won't be able to put it down.
