Review
"Like most others dedicated to turning the tide of epidemic obesity and related health problems in children and adults alike, I have long acknowledged that the problem is bigger than the individual, and the solution needs to be, too. We need policies, programs, and resources that help make eating well and being active the path of least resistance for us all. But in the interim, when focusing on what individuals can and should do, I emphasize three things: health, not just weight; the long term, not the quick fix; and the strength of family unity as opposed to go-it-alone approaches. Dr. Vos serves up similar priorities, and as I read through her book, I routinely found myself nodding my head in enthusiastic agreement and thinking, 'I couldn't have said it better myself!' Dr. Vos indeed says it well, and what she has to say deserves every parent's attention. Her book delivers an artful blend of common sense, uncommon insight, practical expertise, and obvious compassion. I think it's terrific." --David L. Katz, MD, MPH, FACPM, FACP Director, Prevention Research Center Yale University School of Medicine
"Parents, grandparents, and caregivers will love this step-by-step guide to feeding America's happiest and healthiest children. Dr. Miriam Vos puts it best, 'Truly healthy children are bright-eyed, able-bodied, energetic, and glowing.'
The No-Diet Obesity Solution for Kids tells you exactly how to create a positive and healthy relationship between your children and their food. A must-read for anyone with a child in your care." --MeMe Roth, CHC Nutrition Advisor President, National Action Against Obesity
"The No-Diet Obesity Solution for Kids combats the pediatric obesity edpidemic thoroughly, as this problem is about so much more than food. It is multifactorial in nature. But even more, it is a family issue that must be addressed as such. Dr. Vos gives practical suggestions of how each family can live a healthy lifestyle that is positive and nurturing for not only a child's health, but his or her total well-being." --Angela Lemond, RD, LD, Co-Author of LEAN Families, Children's Medical Center, Dallas
