5.0 out of 5 stars rock!
'no division' is a GREAT record. this is the album they put out after they broke up and got back together. a lot of people don't like it because it's not "as good" as 'forever and counting' and 'fuel for the hate game'. but 'no division' still holds all the energy and passion that hot water music are famous for. while it may not be most fans favorite record, this is just...

2.0 out of 5 stars A colossal disapointment
Having been fortunate enough to see the mighty HWM 6 or 7 times before they broke up the first time, it was with baited breath that I waited for this album. I would say they were one the most powerful musical experiences I've witnessed. Boy, what a letdown this was. It's their weakest effort to date, in all respects. The layered and divergent vocals that made Forever...

'no division' is a GREAT record. this is the album they put out after they broke up and got back together. a lot of people don't like it because it's not "as good" as 'forever and counting' and 'fuel for the hate game'. but 'no division' still holds all the energy and passion that hot water music are famous for. while it may not be most fans favorite record, this is just a natural progression for the band. they will only continue to get better and better. repeated listenings of 'no division' will definitely get you hooked. i tell people who haven't heard hwm before to start with this record, because it's a bit more "accessible" than their previous releases. but no album compares to seeing these guys from Florida perform.
if you ever get the chance to see hwm live, GO, you will NOT be disappointed. their live shows make me get all emo and sh!t..., it's almost like a religious experience...
all i can do is thank chuck, chris, jason and george for making such amazing music that helps me get through my day to day life.
they are one of, if not THE, best band on the planet.
highlights on this album: "our own way", "at the end of a gun", "jet set ready", "rooftops", "it's hard to know", and "southeast first"(featuring the gainesville radical cheerleaders!)
ROCK.

5.0 out of 5 stars desert island disc, November 10, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: No Division (Audio CD)
this is the one cd i would bring with me if i was stranded on a desert island. it has all of the passion and energy of an amazing punk record, but also has this optimism and love for life that i havent found anywhere else. some hwm fans dont like this cd, but i think it's kinda what you were 'raised on'. this was the first hwm cd i got into, but most got into cds like fuel for the hate game first, which is also awesome. i could fight a war to these songs, and i could stare out at the ocean while listening to them. get it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing band, September 22, 2001
This review is from: No Division (Audio CD)
Hot Water Music is a band that totally blows me away. They have an awesome sound, write catchy yet powerful songs, and have not put out a bad album yet (and they have quite a large discography). Songs such as "At the End of a Gun" are quite poppy and melodic, but for the most part, this is intense emo and punk influenced ROCK. Every song on here stands on its on, and the choruses are great. The vocals on here aren't as gruff as on their earlier discs, but they still have that distinct sound. My only complaint is that the production took some of the punch out of the songs, but at the same time the instruments sound a lot clearer than they did on earlier HWM releases. If you like energetic, positive, creative rock that will leave you singing along in no time, this album is a must.

5.0 out of 5 stars Greatest album ever recorded!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, October 18, 1999
This review is from: No Division (Audio CD)
This is so awesome, there was so much hype for this album based on their previous marvels and it lived up to the hype and surpassed it by leaps and bounds. This is by far the best record I have ever heard. They really have outdone themselves. This is a must buy for a HWM fan or any punk fan at all.

Uh..ok. no divison is amazing. HWM at CMJ'99 in NYC. Amazing. No division, end of gun, jet set ready live=amazing. i have no idea where that jeff sky valley guy is talking about. i think he needs to re-listen to this amazing album. sure, fuel, finding, and forever are great, but they are all different like this album. four great albums. all different and amazing. jeff sky, go listen to end of a gun over and over. buy this album and see them live no matter what.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Release, August 28, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: No Division (Audio CD)
This album flat our rocks, but in a different way than their previous releases. The singing on some songs seem to have a different style to them than before. Dare I say they sound like older Fugazi even more nowadays? Old fans, get this. New people, take note.

4.0 out of 5 stars opinion, March 18, 2002

This album hits home if it is communed with. These are people here. Exposing themselves. Speaking about what they've seen, thought, heard. That's part of what artists do. Humble, hearty, and handsome folks. They don't need designer or name brand clothing. The realization that life is beautiful in it's natural state leads to the earth and a renaissance balanced of tomorrow and yesterday seems in order today.

The layered and divergent vocals that made Forever and Counting are all but gone. The speed and power that made energy tangible on Fuel is not here either. Nor is there really a trace of the grace and beauty that makes Finding one of my favorite records ever. The vocals are weak, the production is slick, and in general this is just the blah album that will provide them accessibility to a larger audience. This is the archtypical "emo" that strips the hardcore influence and renders it, as a style, purely ineffectual. All that being said Free Radio Gainsville is an ok song, the only decent one on the whole album. Do yourself a favor and buy Fuel for the Hate game, for it is a mind blowing album. Two stars because they were after all, what I'd call one of the best bands from the past few years before this. It's truely a shame to hear what they are becoming.
