5.0 out of 5 stars No Doubt About It, this book is great!
Whether you belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or not, this is book that will make you think. Directed mainly toward the women of the world, Ms. Dew sends two clear messages: one, that she knows what she knows concerning Jesus Christ and His Atonement for all mankind, and two, that it is up to each one of us to utilize that Atonement for our own...

3.0 out of 5 stars Comforting for the downtrodden, but not inspiring any change
Miss Dew was ordained (excuse me set-apart since women aren't to be real authorities) to a General Relief society Counselor. This was supposed to give single women of the Church a shining example of what an older single woman could be. All I saw was an older single woman with great executive skills but living a very lonely, socially-unfulfilled life. (As evidenced by...

This review is from: No Doubt About It (Hardcover)
Whether you belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or not, this is book that will make you think. Directed mainly toward the women of the world, Ms. Dew sends two clear messages: one, that she knows what she knows concerning Jesus Christ and His Atonement for all mankind, and two, that it is up to each one of us to utilize that Atonement for our own salvation and good while on this earth.

She backs her points up well with constant references to both the Bible and the Book of Mormon, and also quotes famous authors and many other names most are familiar with, including church leaders. Also included are many personal experiences, which I believe endears the reader to her and makes her words both understandable and believable.

Ms. Dew acknowledges in this book that life is hard, but that it is what each of us do in this life that matters most. I particularly liked her way of explaining that we have to experience the bad to appreciate the good. (I can't do it justice here.)

I'm no great writer when compared to Sheri Dew, but hope this conveys a little of the spirit of her wonderful book. I highly recommend this book. It will be an enjoyable, uplifting, insightful, motivating, and enlightening experience.

5.0 out of 5 stars Aimed at LDS Audience, April 21, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: No Doubt About It (Paperback)
Sherri Dew is revolutionary to the concept of an LDS woman. When I read her book and as I have listened to her, I don't hear a 50s throwback (giving good grandmotherly advice but not what I need), but instead I hear someone who understands my questions, concerns and love of the gospel. Her book is well referenced (though of course to other LDS works) and thoughtful. She also tells great stories (I didn't find them arrogant like another reviewer did, but I definitely was biased toward the author to begin with). She has a great sense of humor about her life, and many of her stories are acutally a little bit on the self-depracating side, though not in a bad way. While I recognized most of the book from various talks I have heard, it was great to read them again. If you're not LDS, there are better books that can introduce you to our religion, but if you are this is a must read.

As a busy professional woman, I can really relate to Sheri Dew's refreshing approach to the Gospel. Unlike many LDS writers, she brings a whole new viewpoint with her. I hope to see further inspirational works from her pen.

4.0 out of 5 stars Dew-y inspiration, October 31, 2002
This review is from: No Doubt About It (Hardcover)
This inspirational book is aimed squarely at women of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The author is a beloved former member of the largest Christian women's organization in the world and the author of two biographies on recent presidents of The Church.

That said, this book is a worthwhile read by LDS men and even those not affiliated with the The Church. Non-LDS readers be warned, however, that Dew laces her book liberally with Mormon references and scripture. Despite this, the message is one that should resonate with all God-fearing poeple: Seek the Lord first and everything else in your life will be much smoother. That message is especially vital for a Mormon female culture that seems to strive for superwomanhood.

Much of this book will ring familiar to faithful members of The Church as most of its contents were previously delivered over the pulpit in a variety of different meetings while the author served as a counselor in the General Relief Society presidency. But these messages deserve the more considered study that only a reading can provide.

The only criticism I have of the book is that Dew's aforementioned message is so focused here that it's repetition left me wishing there were a more broad message.

5.0 out of 5 stars For Sheri Dew fans, this is a must!, March 21, 2002

Ram Sam "bookbrowser" (utah, Ut United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: No Doubt About It (Hardcover)
If you have seen Sheri Dew speak and enjoyed it at all, you will love this book. Written exactly true to the form in which she speaks, this book is packed with scripture references, stories from her past and present, and comforting words and insights.

This book is written in a way that as you read it you seem to hear Sheri's voice saying the words. It flows nicely from topic to topic as she touches on strengths of the LDS gospel and also challenges you to find your knowledge and testimony of these as well.

While I enjoy reading fiction, and not usually LDS fiction, I found this book refreshing and full of hope, without being to "deep" or intense, perfect for curling up with on a Sunday afternoon. It would make an EXCELLENT mother's day gift because it is targeted toward a woman audience. Sheri Dew is also sensitive to the women of the church and world who are not mother's, and as always she draws them into her fold as well. I give this book 5 stars because if you are looking for true inspiration in Sheri Dew form, here it is, page after page.

5.0 out of 5 stars life changing, February 27, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: No Doubt About It (Hardcover)
I finished the last page only to begin reading the book a second time. Sheri Dew is an amazing motivational teacher. I have been a faithfull lds woman all my life, but nobody has touched me or CHALLENGED me the way she has. This book has helped me change my life, enough that my husband of 8 years has aksed me several times what I have been doing diffent. While reading No Doubt I was in constent awe how she has qouted so many scriputes, annd from insperational people both members and non-members of the church. As a woman I was able to truly relate to her personal stories, which a male reader may have a dificult time with. Yet the whole time I was reading it I thought of several men that could be inspired and benifit from the few "womanly momements". I have bought this book for every woman in my family and plan on buying it for friends birthdays. Maybe when the men in our family begin to see just how life altering this book is they will read it too.

3.0 out of 5 stars Comforting for the downtrodden, but not inspiring any change, July 19, 2004
This review is from: No Doubt About It (Paperback)
Miss Dew was ordained (excuse me set-apart since women aren't to be real authorities) to a General Relief society Counselor. This was supposed to give single women of the Church a shining example of what an older single woman could be. All I saw was an older single woman with great executive skills but living a very lonely, socially-unfulfilled life. (As evidenced by the dour look on her face when ever I pass by her.) The book is full of advise and ancedotes on how to live her "Godly" sacred life--enduring to the end, aging and alone. After reading this book I wept for the Single Women, wishing they had a vibrant, joyfull, powerful, passionate exaample to follow.
Most women I know realize we deserve so much more and seek the fulness of God's blessings in the Eternal Now instead of holding to the hope of fulfillment "some day" as is her message. She is a great mouthpeice for the men of the Church, nothing more.
