great uplifting songs,

I loved.... this album. I listen to almost all the songs on this album. These songs hold to bibical truths and the songs uplifted me when I was going thru some hard times like the song (no doubt). If you've never gone thru the desert don't buy this album you wouldn't understand it.

Rock On,

I was pretty new to Christian rock the first time I listened to this album. I'd heard some of Petra's earlier stuff on the radio and liked it, but now I'm hooked. I like all kinds of Chistian music, but there are times when you just have to turn it up REALLY loud! Check it out if you're a closet hard-rock fan...you won't be disappointed.

Go elsewhere for your first Petra album,

There are far better Petra albums out there than this one. They definitely started to decline in popularity beginning with this album, and it's noticeable with the sound on the album. The first half is pretty good, but the second half turns into a more-of-the-same every-song-runs-together feel. If you're wanting Petra with John Schlitt on lead vocals, try Beyond Belief or This Means War!

A step in the wrong direction,
This review is from: No Doubt (Audio CD)
I really, really liked this album when it first came out, as I was a new Petra fan at the time and really liked their 80s sound. But critically speaking, this album is a step backwards in Petra's artistic direction, for two reasons. Reason 1: There are too many slow songs on this one, and reason 2: While the guitar playing is a little more edgy and 'alternative' in its sound, the keyboards and drums make it sound really 80s.
That said, songs like 'Right Place' and 'Think on these things' rock and are really fun to listen to. 'Think Twice' is an excellent rocker with a nice added touch of the strings. 'Heart of a Hero' just plain rocks. But why oh why are there so many ballads? The second half has three, the first half has two. That's five songs in total! And again, the drums are really a throwback to the 80s sound, but they aren't even as strong as the drums sounded back in the 'On Fire' days. Instead, they are highly processed, they are synthesized in fact. Why they didnt' get Louie Weaver to actually drum is beyond me. Again, these things I didn't notice at the time. There were enough catchy songs, enough rock on this album, to make me happy. But critically speaking, this album is not Petra's best, lyrically it does have its moments ('Enter In' and 'Think Twice' are highlights, as is the encouraging 'No Doubt'), but musically it's just alright. Not overly adventurous, not really looking forward to Petra's future, but rather dabbling in its past.

No Doubt this ain't Petra,

Petra without Bob Hartman? Hmmm . . . This album is full of good US (soft) Pop/Rock. Yet it could have been so much more. Along with 'Double Take' this signals the beginning of the end for the band. John Schlitt has taken over, and - recent events having shown - is seemingly seeing himself more of a dictator than a leader. One was never too sure who was in the band and who wasn't. Hiring and firing seeming to be on a willy-nilly basis. THe is no real cohesion to the album and the lack of any truly out there rock songs detract from the history of a once fine rock band. Not good enough.

love this one to bits!,
By Matt Rabjohns (Poole, Great Britain) - See all my reviews

Petra never cease to get better and better and better and better. I have been told by some people that this album is rubbish and not worth buying. Well I am here to say that I feel this is one of the best albums I have ever heard in ym life! Petra went through a big change with this album, with John Lawry leaving and Bob no longer touring on the live shows. But the new guy, Jim Cooper on keys is brilliant man! ANd Dave J Lichens is awesome young Hartman! Easy he could soon be as top notch as Bob! And you can tell that Bob still plays on this akbum. He does some outstanding acoustic bits on this song and Dave does great stinging of electric on the awesome "Think Twice" and "Think On These Things". Ronny Cates is certainly still up in the clouds with his bass playing and unknown to some all the drums on this albuma are actually real! No drum machine on this boy! Louie is the best drummer I know. You can tell with all the band that they are truly gifted by God. Bob's best songs on here are the brilliant and truthful "More Than A Thousand Words", which is one of my Dad's fav Petra songs! And the john and dino and Bob written song "We Hold Our Hearts Out To You". Yeah Ok, the rock may not be as heavy as Unseen or beyond but the songs and the devotion to the words and the clarity of the messages are awesome! I love this album very much. Every song on here is huge! Please listen to the message more than the music please! It will blow you away! I love this album to bits and wish it was longer, as it is only a mediocre 47 mins! Too short for brilliance like this but well worth, well well worth buying!

'Enter in' to Rock Worship!,
By John P Fenn (Bristol, United Kingdom) - See all my reviews

This album has really good tunes from the first song. I consider Enter In the best as it captures the whole reason for Jesus' death on the cross. In essence the whole reason for trusting in Jesus and becoming a Christian. Although it is a Rock song you really can Worship with this song and all the other songs in the album.I would not only give 5 stars to this album but to every song in it as well. Hope you enjoy this.

NO DOUBT IT WILL BE ALRIGHT,
By Wayland (Grants Pass, Oregon) - See all my reviews

Now I have had this album for about 3 years, but I will give my review. Back in 95 the only 2 Petra albums I had was UNSEEN POWER and WAKE-UP CALL, I heard about NO DOUBT but I decided not to get it because I heard the album used a drum machine. So I didnt buy the album until I went to see PETRA in concert for the first time in October of 97, that got me to buy NO DOUBT because I loved the title track. So I got it and I kinda liked it, NO DOUBT and RIGHT PLACE were my favorites. So now its the year 2000 and the album has taken my heart, most of it. ENTER IN, THINK TWICE, HEART OF A HERO, and RIGHT PLACE are some excellent rockers. NO DOUBT (the song) and WE HOLD OUR HEARTS TO YOU are some of the best radio hits PETRA has made in years. The other songs are ok but thats what I think, im sure many other people enjoy them. So I give it 4 STARS because I dont like all the songs, but the inspiration on this album is spectacular.

No Doubt about it...,
By A Customer
This review is from: No Doubt (Audio CD)
Our entire family loves this album...from our 7, 8, and 10 year old daughters on up to mom and dad. Tho I'll admit I have to be in the mood for the faster music - like when I'm drivin - <G> the depth to the lyrics this group puts out is absolutely incredible. This is definately music with a message.
