5.0 out of 5 stars moe., The Greatest "unknown" Rock Group
I first heard of moe. not by advertisements or even by word of mouth. I first saw the name on a bumper sticker. I decided to check them out, i was not disappointed. No Doy in my opinion is one of the best rock albums to come out of this decade. With they're fierce, blues/funk influenced music, moe. adds lyrics that are as melodic as they are meaningful. 3.0 out of 5 stars Better than Dither
Released in 1996, this could be considered moe.'s second studio album or their fourth. The sound quality is very good. It is 58 minutes long, but the last four minutes is just a bunch of noise like someone scratching on a screen.

There are some good songs on this and some bad. It is not a jam album, but it is played mostly in the style that moe. plays in...

Highlights include 32 Things, Spine of A Dog, and Buster. What is most unique about moe. is the beautiful melodies that the two guitarists create on top of funky bass lines. Advice to anyone, buy this CD and catch this band live if the opportunity presents itself. Cy Harrison

5.0 out of 5 stars A pleasure for the ears, January 6, 2004
This review is from: No Doy (Audio CD)
I have all of the studio albums that moe. has recorded, and this is undoubtedly my favorite. It seems closer to a live recording than a conceptualized studio effort, and therefore has a spontaneity you don't normally find on studio albums. Having never seen moe. live, so I am lacking that experience. But when compared to albums like wormwood or dither, this stands head and shoulders above them. The guitar work on Rububla is absolutely astounding, and moth opens with a funky little riff that you can definitely groove to. There are no real weak links in this album, no filler songs whatsoever. Check it out sometime.

5.0 out of 5 stars This CD belongs in every collection, June 20, 2003

First of, moe. is such an amazing band. All of their albums, including this one, only prove that. This is one of the few CDs that I love every single track on it. I have to listen to the entire CD all the way through everytime I put it in the CD player. This is definitley one of my favorite CDs. I would have to say that moe. is the best jam band in the studio. Their studio albums are probably some of the best of their genre. However, on the other hand, they are mind blowing live. They jam beautifully and create an energy and vibe unlike any other. I love every moe. CD, but this might have to be my favorite. Anyone who has not heard of moe., please buy this CD. It is truly a gem.

5.0 out of 5 stars After this I had to have some "moe.", August 7, 2001

This album completely blew me away! I was already a fan of Phish and Widespread Panic, but the second I heard some friends playing moe. I was hooked. Soon moe. was launched to the top of my favorite bands list. The highlights are without a doubt 32 Things, St. Augustine, Rebubula, Spine of a Dog, Moth, and Buster. Okay, that's pretty much the whole album, but that's why I love it so much.

You really should see them in concert as well. Their music comes alive. If you can't make it to a show I also strongly recommend listening to "L", their live album.

Buy "No Doy"!!!!! You will not be let down.

5.0 out of 5 stars Moe, a Band of Versatility, January 25, 2000
This review is from: No Doy (Audio CD)
Moe proves in this excellent album that they can do anything. The styles of music used in this album are widely varied, and I must say all are played with excellence. These great musicians show they can play anything. Often humorous, always entertaining, No Doy is a real winner. This is one cd that requires no getting up. Start from track 1 and play till the end. And I should mention some killer jams too on this album. So if you like rock and roll with a little bit of what-not thrown in then this album is for you. Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars moe. best album to date, October 16, 1999

I've read in a lot of the reviews you have posted, that Tin Cans and Car Tires is better than this album. With all due respect to those who feel that way, you're nuts. Tin Can and Car Tires is good, but it doesn't have songs has good as Spine of a Dog, Buster, and Rebubula. This is by far moe.'s best album but, hey No Doy

5.0 out of 5 stars Could moe. albums and moe. shows get any better?, August 25, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: No Doy (Audio CD)
The first time I ever heard moe. was in a high school art class. My teacher would let us bring music to listen to while we worked. A few months later I bought No Doy. I went nuts when I heard this album. All the different styles of music displayed in No Doy fit together perfectly to create one of the best albums on earth, or possibly in space. Even if you haven't ever heard moe. and you have a chance to see them live, GO, because that will be the last thing in life you'll regret.

5.0 out of 5 stars Album of the Century!, September 18, 2002

This was my introduction to moe. and although I loved it upon first listen, it's one of the only albums I own that I just can't get sick of no matter how many times I play it for a friend or just someone I want to turn on to these stellar musicians. This in my opinion is moe.'s best album, but Dither comes in a close second, then Tin Can's an even closer 3rd. Live, these guys are an unstoppable juggernaut. Catch em' if you can. Best song on this album, especially for beginners, would have to be "Four". The frogs actually fooled my friends into thinking I had a pond one night.

4.0 out of 5 stars Jammin, rocking, bluesy killer CD, October 13, 2000

A great 'undiscovered' (in other words, not radio-saturated) band that will undoubtably hit it 'big' someday. Moe's strong fan base keeps them going, as well as their awesome live performances (check out 'L' by them).

Moe. combine several of the great elements of 60-80's 'jamming' styles with some country-rock, blues, jazz and good ole rocknroll. If I HAD to compare them to another band, I guess it would be Phish (however, a far better version of them - they bore me). They are an extremely talented bunch, and a great sense of humor is sprinkled throughout their lyrics.

This was Moe.'s first 'big' studio CD (with a 'major' label), and is a good representation of who they are. I personally like their follow-up 'Tin Cans and Car Tires' a bit better, however this CD captures their overall catchy songwriting abilities with tossing in more of their jamming sound as well - heck, just get both of 'em to get the best 'view' of Moe.

Overall, Moe. bring back some of the best elements of 70/80s rock that I just don't hear that much these days - without sounding like some pathetic 'retro' band or Greatful Dead clone. Give Moe a go - bet you'll find something you'll like!
