This movie was interesting though not an on-the-edge-of-your seat type. The actors were endearing though probably not academy award winners. The storyline may not have been out of the unusual, but the ending was a surprise. My husband and I are especially fond of the 1940's, black/white movies holding this one as worth every minute.

Nice love story, a plot twist, some good scenery.

The special effects were obvious, but thankfully there weren't many of them.

I enjoyed the storyline but it kept reminding me of "THE BLUE GARDENIA"; very similar including a piano player. Nat King Cole played the same kind of role in GARDENIA, one of my all time favorites. The acting in this one was fine although the plot was a bit predictable. I was sorry to find out who the murderer was. Glad I happened on to this film. Susan

"No Escape" is a mediocre little noir-wannabe but watchable. Actually, a bit difficult to watch as the streaming would suddenly start its series of "Loading" enough times that I had to turn it off and resume watching another day. Otherwise, it's barely a B picture with a couple of good performances as well as a couple of near-laughable ones.

Good, standard (b/w) Film Noir. Simple plot...bad guy vs. good guy, girl involved between the two, secrets, sassy language, near misses and chase scenes. Easy on the brain if you just want "something" to watch while you can't fall asleep (me...I'm crazy for Film Noir). Enjoy! peace.

I watch these soapy B Noirs when I'm folding laundry or some other mundane task. If they're good at I'll rewind what I miss if I leave the immediate area for a few. I rewound this one. As others have said it is predictable, stereotypical in every way. But it was well done production wise. Good lights, decent camera direction. I dropped a star for the voice overs about San Francisco and the male lead (or whoever dubbed it) singing. This was one where it would have been better if the girl of interest had leaned on the piano and sung a song she'd only heard bits of before, belting it out like Rita Hayworth, complete with the magic orchestra for these moments, than the guy. It didn't have any edge at all and at times seemed like it couldn't decide if it was a public service announcement, propaganda or a mystery. But there were a lot of films like that from era, so no big deal. This film is worth it for the downtown San Francisco shots alone. If the City by the Bay is your kind of town you'll want to watch this just for the historical postcard effect.

Well done, not too soapy, a scenic delight. If you're looking for chemistry like Ford and Hayworth or Mitchum and anybody, or Torchy Blane style lightning bolt slang swapping, look elsewhere. If you'd like to have some zero fat, low sugar, low sodium no guilt B&W fun in Old Sn Francisco, this is fine.

Sonny Tufts is terrible in this movie as is everyone else. I couldn't watch the entire movie it was so bad.
