Product Description

From his dashing debut as an actor on "General Hospital," to his classic Calvin Klein underwear campaign on larger-than-life billboards and intimate magazine spreads, to his recent role in film and television, Antonio Sabato Jr. is a serious sex symbol.

In this, his first book, Sabato comes clean: a beautifully fit body, though divine, is not a gift from the heavens. It is the result of a tough, disciplined, and balanced workout program. More than just an exercise book, "No Excuses" lets you in on Sabato's motivation-why he trains in this way, how he maintains his intensity and commitment, and his perspective on mental and physical health.

With hundreds of photographs from both inside and out of the gym, readers are led through the exclusive exercise routine that Sabato has developed with the help of his long-time trainer and friend, Joe Sanceri. "No Excuses" is not only filled with tips, diagrams, and gorgeous photos, but it is also provides the one thing to get you going: inspiration.

5.0 out of 5 stars FINALLY, A WORKOUT ROUTINE AND REGIMIN THAT REALLY WORKS., October 17, 1999
By A Customer
I'M NOT INTO BOOKS ABOUT FITNESS, BUT I WAS INTRIGUED ABOUT ANTONIO AND HOW HE TRANSFORMED HIS BODY FROM THE EARLY DAYS WHEN HE WAS APPEARING IN JANET JACKSON MUSIC VIDEOS. I HAVE A SIMILAR BUILD, HAVE BEEN WORKING OUT FOR ABOUT A YEAR AND WANTED TO FINE TUNE AND SCULP MY BODY BECAUSE I LIKED HIS LOOK. AFTER READING THE BOOK, IT ALL MADE SENSE. THE PHILOSOPHY ABOUT HOW YOUR ATTITUDE SHOULD BE IN THE GYM, ALONG WITH THE SUPERSET AND THE NUITRITION INFORMATION. I COULD SEE IN ONLY ONE WEEK VERY NOTICEABLE RESULTS. I HAVE LENT IT TO MY WORKOUT PARTNER SO THAT HE CAN UNDERSTAND WHAT I MEAN WHEN I APPROACH HIM ABOUT CHANGING THE WAY WE WORK OUT. I HAVE CUT MY WORKOUT TIME IN HALF WITH IMPROVED RESULTS. GONE ARE THE MINUTES OF WASTED TIME, RESTING BETWEEN SETS, WAITING FOR MACHINES AND LOGGING INFORMATION ON NOTEPADS THAT DON'T MEAN ANYTHING. LIKE THE BOOK SAYS, "DON'T STOP TO VISIT WITH PEOPLE, DON'T STOP TO WRITE IN NOTEBOOKS, IF YOU HAVE TIME TO DO THIS, YOU ARE NOT WORKING OUT" YOU ARE WASTING TIME. THIS BOOK MAKES PERFECT SENSE. THE CONCEPTS ARE SIMPLE TO FOLLOW AND UNDERSTAND. IT WILL REMAIN A PART OF MY FITNESS PROGRAM FOR YEARS AND YEARS TO COME.

5.0 out of 5 stars Building a Muscular Physique without using extreme measures, July 22, 2000
There are loads of bodybuilding books out there. And to some, the price of this book may be on the high side. So, why Antonio Sabato's Workout For Life?

Here's why. The physique achieved by Antonio is no mean feat. This book shows you how you can build a great physique by being moderate and commonsensical; without resorting to pills, supplements and fancy diets; and without lifting weights which may be too heavy for your own good.

It's refreshing how Antonio departs from the usual oft-cited bodybuilding "wisdom" out there. Conventional bodybuilding techniques teach you to use heavy weights and to have rests in between these heavy sets. However, using heavy weights do not necessarily translate into muscles. Antonio believes in using intensity to build muscles - that means using lighter weights but moving quickly from set to set and without excessive rest. If you have trouble lifting the weights, then it is too heavy for your body, and you should use lighter weights, says Antonio.

What I was impressed by was the fact that Antonio achieved his physique without resorting to any fancy diet, supplement or pill.

Antonio also believes in keeping in shape all year round. So there is no such thing as an "off-season" to him and neither is there a need for him to "get in shape again". The mental attitude adopted by him is truly inspiring. Antonio helps you to rid yourself of all excuses to get yourself in shape.

All I have said so far is already worth half the price of the book. The photos in this book are worth the other half. There are lots of photographs of Antonio Sabato Junior's great physique and him in action working out.

If you like to get in shape but don't know how, I recommend that you get this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars On target!, November 16, 1999
By A Customer
This book is informative, interesting, and provides solid information. As a middle aged man, I could have done without all the "cheesecake" photos. However, he provides a unique way of workouts. I have done this for a couple of weeks and the workouts are tough. I end up lifting weights less poudage wise, but seem to be getting better results due to the intensity. For people who have been active, this book is ideal.

On the negative side, Sabato makes you figure out which body exercises to do. I would have preferred seeing sample sets for given days. Also, the book is expensive for 144 pages. Had it been less or if Amazon would provide a bigger discount (and beat their competitors-hint!) I would have rated it 5 stars.
