Not bad...,

****SPOILER WARNING****
No Exit is the conclusion of the "Big Empty" series. It very nicely wraps up the story of Diego, Keely, Liza, Michael, and Irene's escape and eventual return to Novo Mundum, but unfortunately a lot is left unsaid at the end of the book. For example, hints are dropped that there is beginning to be a resistance to the totalitarian government, but the author leaves it at that. It would have been better to see a little more on that aspect of the book, and less on the relationships between all of the rather love-sick teenagers. Couples paired up and broke apart practically on a weekly basis in this book. One notable achievement of the book I found very well done was the maturation of several of the characters, most notably Liza and Michael. Liza in particular was forced to grow up very quickly in this novel after her final confrontation with her father. Even before then, she was showing some definite signs of maturity, particularly in wanting to be like Keely and less like Maggie (I found it an excellent sign that she realized how much she WAS like Maggie already). The other characters I find were already very well-developed. I think most people who read these books can easily relate to at least one of the characters. Their personalities are very clear and you find yourself often sympathizing with their various ordeals throught the book, and certainly in the entire series. Overall, I rate it three stars. There was certainly room for improvement, but it was still very nicely written.

Quit Here,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: No Exit (Paperback)
Don't get me wrong- this series won't find a place in any Top 10 Lists or anything, but it was readable compared to some other things I've read.
This book is the exception. For anything this book was terrible, let alone the end of a series. Even though I had just finished the previous book, I was a bit lost on this one. The themes seemed totally different, it didn't match up with the rest of them. If you like the other books, just stop after Desolation Angels, or get this at the library. Don't waste your money on this one.
