Biography

The cover of Blondie’s Panic Of Girls, the band’s ninth studio album, features the surreal hand-painted imagery of Dutch cult artist Chris Berens, whom guitarist Chris Stein sought out and commissioned to create the work. Its depiction of a kind of warped wonderland metaphorically suits Blondie at this juncture in its remarkable, 37 year-old career. The New York City-based sextet indeed occupies a… Read more in Amazon's Blondie Store

5.0 out of 5 stars A totally unique musical experience, November 11, 2000
This review is from: No Exit (Tour Souvenir) (Audio CD)
I'm really quite amazed that Blondie can bring a song like this out. I know they've been extremely innovative in the past, but this is really envelope pushing even for them! For those not in the know, No Exit is the title track from Blondie's comeback album. It's a weird monster-mash/rap/tribute to classical music song about a vampire, in which lead singer Debbie Harry does a funky rap duet with Coolio. I just really love how different it all is. Starting out with an abridged version of Bach's Tocatta, then moving through a hard rock rhythm which includes numberous famous classic pieces in some form or another (including Hall of the Mountain King and more). I'm not a Coolio fan, but he's got Debs to keep him in check here. Also on the single, the numerous remixes are well worth a listen, but cannot overshadow the brilliance of the original track. This deserved a chart placing. Buy it anyway!
