5.0 out of 5 stars What Happens When Friends Fight, August 1, 2003
This review is from: No Limits (Audio CD)
Reset was the first band I ever officially called myself a fan of. My brother was a fan and took me to a show when I was really young. And even then, I really liked it. Punk's always been in my blood and this bought that out. Having become a fan before Chuck left, I was used to his style of drumming and wasn't open to him being kicked out of the band and them bringing in a new drummer. But it makes no difference. No Limits is just as awesome as No Worries was. Bouvier's lyrics are just as truthful and helpful as ever and musically the band grew. My favourite tracks off the disc are Friend (which was written about Chuck) and Let Me Go, which is the perfect "I'm growing up" song. The whole cd rules and I highly suggest you buy it now and listen to it loud. I also suggest you buy Simple Plan's debut No Pads, No Helmets... Just Balls. Pierre, Chuck, and David are in SP. But beware, SP and Reset sound nothing alike!

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have!, March 15, 2004

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: No Limits (Audio CD)
First of all, let me say that I saw Reset in concert over 10 times and that it was, in my humble opinion, one of the best Punk-rock bands from 1996 to 2001.

This is the second album that Reset made, the first one "No Worries" had a different lineup: they had a bassist and Chuck(currently in SP) was the drummer and it sounded a bit "garage", but it's one of the best bebut album I have heard, the style is like a mix of NoFX-Punk in Drublic, Pennywise-Unknown Road and Bad Religion-Recipe for Hate.

On the second album, Pierre took up Bass duties and Andrian replaced Chuck on the drums. This album sounds really great, the guitar sounds a lot like the guitars in Pennywise back in the "About Time" period (Phil is a huge Heavy Metal fan and it shows in his style). The drumming is really good (Adrian is a much better drummer than Chuck was) and it is really fast paced. With melodic vocals and harmonies. This album is fast, aggressive and still remains as catchy as the first one. If you like Strung Out, Pennywise and Bad Religion, this CD is for you. Keep in mind that this band comes from Quebec and that it really mesures up to the best Californian Punk bands.

From Pierre's own opinion, Simple Plan is a slower paced, more commercial style than Reset used to be (read: they got fed up of not making money out of fast paced energic punk-rock and decided to make money at the cost of toning down). So, if you are into MxPx, Mest, Good Charlotte and Blink 182, you will probably prefer Simple Plan, but in my opinion, it's a shame that Reset died to give birth to SP, Simple Plan is good but it's not has original and unique has Reset used to be.

Reset RULES!

5.0 out of 5 stars WHERE DID THE SOUL GO?, July 4, 2004
By
Phil Robinson (Canoga Park, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: No Limits (Audio CD)
This album is a must have, but even more so, No Worries is a must have. But where is it?

I found Reset through a mislabeled file on napster, that claimed to be New Blink 182. The filename was Reset- Why? and I immediatly downloaded everyhting I could find by the band. Melodic punk, one album that was obviously written out of teen angst, and then an album detailing the experience of the first, No Limits is an amazing compromise between a polished sound and music with some major heart. Hearing simple plan saddens me to know that Pierre can't let ONE iota of his talent into the music.

There's a song about alienation that expresses the emotion on par with Pink Floyd, but through pierre's words, and with some optimism, there's a song to his mom, there's a song about betrayal, and the saddest bit is that Pollution is about not selling out, and two months after the release, Pierre decided to go sell out.

Buy this album, and if you can find it, Buy No Worries, and if you can get to Canada, Buy Armageddon, as a matter of fact, buy more than one copy and list it here.
