Editorial Reviews

Review

A hauntingly lyrical first collection... The book is permeated by the concepts of mercy and grace, but if this means that there is an underlying theme of hope... there is plenty of shadow to counterbalance the sunshine.
--J.S. Watts, Neon

Winner of the 2009 FutureCycle Poetry Book Prize

From Robert S. King, Director and Editor-in-Chief, FutureCycle Press—

In our minds, this book has already passed the test of time. It is the work of an exceptional mind and an exceptional poet. We’re not the only ones talking about it already.

From Ronald Wallace, author of Long for this World: New & Selected Poems

“. . . Cone embraces the wounds and wonders of the natural world, retaining, with ‘winds washed clean as pebbles,’ an unshakable faith in the healing power of song. This is truly a book of blessings, a blessing of a book.”

From Michael S. Harper, Poet Laureate Emeritus, State of Rhode Island, and author of Songlines in Michaeltree: New and Collected Poems

“. . . Temple Cone frames . . . a romantic dream-book of possibilities . . . Cone is alive in his world and will not relinquish control of any element. Even his wife, child, and Rumi’s thematic of the Beloved sally forth in the flute-music of Cone’s dance. And Temple Cone is an artful dancer, the craft and vision of his art-making a belief in grace and gracenotes.”

From Claudia Emerson, winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Late Wife: Poems

“A poet of unwavering honesty and lyric precision, Temple Cone’s gift to us, and to poetry, is in ‘the persistence of song’—an underlying sense of wondrous optimism despite the perils of the world we shape and are shaped by. No Loneliness is a beautiful collection and remarkable debut from a young, but very wise and soulful poet.”

5.0 out of 5 stars Best poetry collection I have read in years!, October 19, 2009

This review is from: No Loneliness (Paperback)
This is an inspired collection of poems focusing primarily on nature themes as well as family and self. This book reveals the author's passion for life exploding in every word. Cone has expressed his life, love and feelings in a way most cannot and yet it is still accessible to a common person such as I. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and recommend it to all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Collection, Great Author, November 5, 2010

This review is from: No Loneliness (Paperback)
Length:: 3:14 Mins

I basically give an anecdote of how I met the author, and I recommend one poem in particular--that poem is "Forgiveness". But all of them are great, with form and unadulterated beauty. It won the 2009 FutureCycle Poetry Book Prize.
