5.0 out of 5 stars I Could Completely Relate, May 11, 2000
This review is from: No More Bad-Hair Days: A Woman's Journey Through Cancer, Chemotherapy and Coping (Hardcover)
I thought that this book was great. I received it as a gift during my illness. As a 19 year old, battling ovarian cancer, I could relate to every part. It always made me laugh and put a smile on my face. I am now in remission and still sit down often and read the book. I always read it completely in one sitting because it is so good that I can never put it down or walk away. It puts things into perspective and helps to lighten the situation. I recommend it to everyone and am going to buy it for my friend who also has ovarian cancer. To Susan- thanks for the laughs and inspiration.

After I read this book, I felt a new promise in helping my mother fight her battle with ovarian cancer. The book gave me insight into what my mother deals with and the little things that I can do to make her life easier. Thank you to the author for her encouraging words.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!!!!!, October 11, 2000
This review is from: No More Bad-Hair Days: A Woman's Journey Through Cancer, Chemotherapy and Coping (Hardcover)
One of the best books I have ever read. I'm a 34 year old female who just finished treatment for lymphoma. Ms. Hyde captured my feelings and thoughts perfectly. I highly recommend this to anyone going through a battle with cancer or to any caregivers also. I wish I had found this book when I was actually having my chemo and radiation. Some of her pointers would have helped me a lot (ie. always carry a blanket with you to chemo and to hospitals).

Thank you Susan for sharing your wit and wisdom. I have been searching for someone who, like me can see the humor under even these most trying circumstances. Few people in my life seem to be able to laugh with me. I hope your book will change that! The last thing I need or want is a lot of gloomy faces bringing me down.

Susan gave me many chances to LOL. Thanks, and best wishes.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a wonderful gift to receive., November 18, 1998

This review is from: No More Bad-Hair Days: A Woman's Journey Through Cancer, Chemotherapy and Coping (Hardcover)
I'm sitting here, scratching my half-bald, half peach-fuzz head, wondering how to thank this author for pulling me through just about the worst day yet of my cancer saga. A new friend sent it to me, I opened it, started reading and didn't stop (except for when the doorbell rang and I unashamedly answered it with tears running down my face) until I finished it. I laughed, I cried, I crowed. Thank you, Susan Hyde. (Oh yes, and last night I actually did discover a natural cure for insomnia - the Linda-Monica tapes. I'm sure they'll be available in audio-book format for the general public by tomorrow...)

This book was written by an old friend of mine; a woman with more grace and love of living than anyone else I have ever known. Reading it always brings a smile.

5.0 out of 5 stars Oncology nurse perspective, September 2, 2006

This review is from: No More Bad-Hair Days: A Woman's Journey Through Cancer, Chemotherapy and Coping (Hardcover)
I have had a number of people I've cared for over the last few years refer to this book as helpful. I finally decided to buy one and saw for myself why this is true. The book gently covers topics unique to the female experience of cancer care. Often friends and family members will ask how to connect and support the cancer patient. Thankfully, this book offers excellent ideas for conversation starters and perspective by using humor, inspiration and sincerity. In writing this book the author has provided a valuable gift for other female cancer patients walking her shoes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Read this book even if you are very well!, July 6, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: No More Bad-Hair Days: A Woman's Journey Through Cancer, Chemotherapy and Coping (Hardcover)
Susan Hyde is my friend. Her book is about living. Sometimes, cancer becomes a part of living, and the only thing we have to do until we die is live. Susan knows how to live. Her cancer is not the example that she sets. Her life is the example. She is living a good life.
