Book Description

July 24, 1999
Danger, romance, adventure, exotic places, miracles. A thrilling Christian biography of a Cambodian man whose idyllic childhood in a Cambodian jungle village was shattered by the Khmer Rouge takeover in 1975. Physa survived the killing fields, was forced to serve as a communist soldier, escaped over landmine-infested borders, experienced young love in a refugee camp, took the identity of a dead man, faced the bewilderments of American culture, and came to life-transforming faith in Jesus Christ, who revealed his love to Physa in miracle after miracle.

Includes maps, bibliography, illustrations, and black/white photos taken in Cambodia, Thailand, and U.S.A.

No More Fear: From Killing Fields to Harvest Fields

"Crossing a vast cultural gulf, Physa Chanmany has followed his innate feelings for God and his desire to find Him. Key elements of the story are: *Physa's awareness of God through the Buddhist religion of his childhood and through his experience with evil spirits ... *God's use of dreams to guide Physa ... *Physa's choice of a simple subsistence lifestyle as a Christian minister to Asian Americans ... Physa's story is God's story; it shows the universality of Christ; and it has all the ingredients of a historical novel." -- Dr. Joseph H. Powell, author of Grapes Of Righteousness, Starburst Publishers

From the Author

During my youth in the 1960's and 70's I saw television and magazine pictures of teen-aged Vietnamese and Cambodian soldiers- small, tough, skinny, and lugging big rifles. I didn't imagine that one of those boys would someday be my friend and that I would write his story.

I thank God for the privilege of knowing this brother, of glimpsing the awesome hand of God's providence at work in his life, of helping him to tell his amazing story.

More About the Author

Born in Colorado, Catherine grew up in California, moving from one town to another as a preacher's daughter. With a BA in English she has worked as a substitute teacher in public schools, a private piano teacher, a freelance writer and editor, and a business owner. FACE TO FACE is her first novel, published just before moving back to her beautiful birth state near the Rocky Mountains. Her faith, travels, many colorful places she's lived and people she's known, vivify her writing. Through fiction she explores the depths of our relationships with--and need for--God, each other, and nature.

4.0 out of 5 stars This book is educational, inspirational, and a good story!, October 25, 1999
By
Beverly Coons (Santa Rosa, California, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: No More Fear: From Killing Fields To Harvest Fields (Paperback)
This book was interesting, inspiring and at times horrifying! I was given a peek into the quiet almost bucolic lifestyle of a small village in Laos. Village customs, religious practices, childhood antics were all related in a simple and smooth style. Then the reader experiences the abrupt destruction of this life when the Khmer Forces forced them from their village and farms, separating children from their families, killing, putting people to hard labor. The brutality of this time is described without hype or sensationalism; instead allowing the power of those events to stand starkly in the reader's mind. But the last portion of the book brings yet another strand; the element of hope. As Physsa relates his struggles as a refugee, the reader cannot help but see the work of God in this young man's life. It is a remarkable story about a remarkable person. But mostly it is a story of hope and redemption.

4.0 out of 5 stars You won't be able to put this one down!, December 30, 1999

This review is from: No More Fear: From Killing Fields To Harvest Fields (Paperback)
"No More Fear" offers a first-hand account of what happened early in Cambodia during Pol Pot's murderous regime. Physa's story is so gripping that I found it impossible to put the book down. The author does a good job of conveying the message of hope, faith and trust in God in this book.

This book is one that will continue to be my favorite. It is filled with wonderful imagery and a sense of being a part of the story. Personally, I have become closer to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ after reading Pastor Physa's book. I recommend this book to all non-believers and believers. This book is a wonderful depiction of God's sovereign mercy and grace. Thank you Pastor Physa for sharing your life. May God bless you with everlasting joy.
