This review is from: No More Knee Pain: A Woman's Guide to Natural Prevention and Relief (Paperback)
I originally bought this for my girl friend. It was the second book from
George Kessler I have bought. What I found was that where he shows where woman's knees are different than Men's knees, you learn about knees for men as well. He gets excellent reviews from such organizations as top hospital centers of joint diseases. I would recommend it to everyone. Better to understand the knee and prevent problems than recover. I'm a runner, so I was especially interested in it from that aspect, my girl friend is a serious hiker in her 50s, and many of her friends can no longer hike because of knee pain. I bought her a bunch of used copies to give to her friends. Then, I bought a copy for a specialist doctor I am seeing who is very interested in getting involved in his holistic analysis and to keep on his shelf to recommend to his patients with knee problems. It's also an easy read, he explains highly technical material clearly. The author was voted the best professor at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, which he teaches part time. Also get the Bone Density Diet which should be required reading for parents, when children's bones are being developed.

first-time-reviewer,
By A. K. Silver (Atlanta, Ga.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: No More Knee Pain: A Woman's Guide to Natural Prevention and Relief (Paperback)
Over the years, I have read many holistic health books. At times, I have also poured through medical texts. NO MORE KNEE PAIN Stands out wonderfully in the lot.
At Age 60, I still had exceptionally agile knees. I could still kick over my head; sit in a yoga position for hours; and do the can-can. But then I stepped into an oil slick. Oh well. Like many people over 50, my MRI revealed pre-existing arthritis, so as I hobbled along, doctors insisted I was doing quite well for my age. I have just completed a round of physical therapy, sponsored by a local hospital. I did improve somewhat during the therapy - although I also experienced problems with the previously uninjured knee and a resurgence of an old back problem. I was still left with the decision of whether or not to undergo arthscopic surgery. In reading NO MORE KNEE PAIN, I learned more about physical therapy than I learned during 17 or 18 sessions. I also learned how to avoid doing the exercises without injury. (I do wish at-home alternatives were presented for the exercises that require a specialized machine.) All in all, I obtained an excellent overview of traditional therapies, of holistic therapies, and of the knee as an integral part of an operational body. I dearly love BALCH as a reference book. But after having read a couple of hundred holistic medicine books, I think NO MORE KNEE PAIN is probably the best book I've read, in combining traditional medicine and natural medicine in a concise, readable form. Thank-you very much Dr. Kessler. I have never taken the time before to comment upon a book. But I now know how to improve my knee, and I am very grateful.

Worthless Read,

Don't bother spending your money. I also met the doctor who wrote this book and he was FAR from anything he sounded like in the book.
